It seems I'm now having a habit of updating irregularly- due to a number of obvious factors or otherwise. I guess this month will lack of a real post. *sign*

Anyway, I'll guarantee the next post or two will be a major one which is about my job at my current place and the impact made in my life after a full year working. Yeah, my 1st anniversary of working at Animasia was last month actually :P No celebration what so ever though.

Well, I hope ( like I always do) to make a regular update on this blog after that. So look forward for it ;)

BBQ Nite

Making full use of the 3 day weekend holiday, one of my colleague, Ayez organized ( leader Jin Hui the main sponsor) a BBQ session yesterday and it was mighty fun XD.

So after a week planning and last minute preparation the BBQ was held at the condominium near our studio - Sri Jati 2, starting at 5 pm. Well, not exactly sharp.. but you know lah as Malaysian do. Even the organizer team was late ( well, they prepared most of the stuff since that day's morning). Some of us still havent arrive yet, but we aready fired up and done quite a number of chicken wings.

Then, our party hit a snag. Apparently there's some internal conflict between the present and the soon-to-be manangement of the condo about our BBQing at the premise. Though the misunderstanding has settled at the end, but the whole shebang already fouled our mood of continuing there. So we decide to move the event to a more friendly place- our boss, ah loong's house, a reasonable distance from the condo XD

By around 8pm, everything was up and ready and the event went full swing. More guest arrived and everyone was clearly enjoyed themselves. As for me, I was into my full eating while snapping mode. I think I clearly ate a lot yesterday nite. Here goes my weight loss resolution this year XD

Anyway, by around 12 am, we doused the fire and pack everything up while clean the front of the house where the BBQ was held. Soon we bid good bye to our gracious host and went home for the nite. Well, some of us (me included) even decided to go "yumcha" at the nearby Steven's Corner. The boys went up and have some game of snooker while the girls stayed at the mamak gossiping. Strangely, I somewhat left beside with the girls ( I not really want to play snooker) and hear some rather amusing stuff *grin*

By 2.40 am, I finally reached home- tired, sleepy but happy.

Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula

Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula (Gang/Friends: The Adventure Begins) is Malaysia's 1st locally made full length 3D animation by Les’ Copaque Production Sdn Bhd of Upin & Ipin fame.

It was about 2 friends, city slicker Badrol and Lim visiting the former's hometown- Kampung Durian Runtuh. They met new friends, though reluctantly, the village kids- mischievous twins Upin and Ipin, animal talking Rajoo, and hot-tempered beauty Ros. And also a mysterious critter. Together, they got involved in the recent mising durian mystery and had the biggest adventure of their lifetime. Unless of course, they come back in a bigger sequal *LOL*

For a debut local 3D animation movie, Les’ Copaque' sure have no qualms throwing everthing but the kitchen sink. We have stereotype characters, udder jokes, car chases (of sorts), Disney-like song dance sequence (more Bollywood, me thinks), big fireball explosion, teary moments and monsters fight ala King Kong, all packed into its 90 minutes time frame. While more is good, but it doesnt help if they compromised on the story which was rather straight forward and a bit far fetched. What I really like about the movie was the comedic elements which we Malaysian can truly related to. Not to mention the cute twins which got one of the best laughs out scenes in the movie.

Of course, it's hard not to compare it visually with the likes of Pixar and Dreamworks but hey, this is by the way, Malaysian's 1st and frankly, I think it was a really good start for them :) Saying that, there still a lot to improve in term of animation and some of the characters design especially the cuddly main one ;)

It a shame if most of us shun this feature just because of its "locally made" tag. Sure, Geng is in Bahasa Malaysia (with a nice post production English sub), but it is made by Malaysian for Malaysian and it can be pretty enjoyable for all of us. Do watch it and be proud :)

Post Chinese New Year Post

Chinese New Year has come and gone and today is the last day of my holiday. Even a few days ago I start to think about the work I left before the holiday... *Big sigh*

This year's Lunar New Year was indeed a lot better than last year's. With a stable job now, I have more reason to celebrate the festive season. Not to mention, my eldest cousin was finally able to come back to celebrate with us after many years aboard. Then again, with a better financial situation I did spent a lot more too XD Now, equipped with a good camera, I able snap some great pics, though not as much as i hope to be, for memory sake. You can view them here.

And yesterday I took the time, to go shopping at both KLCC and Times Square with Sakura chan though she arrive latter XD. I was planning to buy Liquid City vol. 1 a comic compilation of mostly SEA artists including Datuk Lat and Michael Chuah, but taken aback with its steep price o.O Never thought it was published by Image and so damn thick. Maybe next time *Sigh~*
Well, at least I able to brought Starcraft: Frontline vol.2 XD

After lunch, we head to Jelatek LRT station so that Sakura can drive us to Times Square since it's more convinient than taking the monorail. We only browse around the figurine and anime shops there and Sakura able to buy some stuffs ( Yatta, she got Kagami Hiiragi from the Gasaphon machine there). Too bad she have to go early since she a bit tired from the begining. Thanks Sakura chan~~ ^^
As for me, I continue to hang around till 8 pm (after a Sushi King dinner) and manage to buy a Figma Miku Hatsune of Vocaloid fame. ^^ Got back tired but worthwhile.

Happy New Year 2009

Whoa~ it been a eventful 2008 , particularly the second half of the year when my life finally stabilized. Good times indeed and hopeful this new year will be a lot better.

New year means new resolutions but how far did I fulfill my last ones? Lets check them out:

1. Get a decent creative-related job. Check.
2. Lost 15 kg of fat and gain 5 kg of muscle. Total failed.
3. Make and finish my own manga/comic. Failed.
4. Learn to read and write Mandarin. Failed.
5. Learn basic Japanese. Failed.
6. Take a driving lesson test. Failed.
7. Buy a PC tablet. Check.
8. Be more people friendly. Check.
9. Update my blog more often. Failed.
10. Make at least 2 finished artworks a week. Failed.

Guess I got 3 out of 10 then which mean I did bad :P. As for resolution no. 2- I gain more than 5 kg of fat and a rather noticeable tummy. * Sigh* Good times indeed .....

So what my new resolution? I think the old ones still hold plus:

1. Lose my single status.
2. Clean up the house and maintain it.
3. Get better salary

Well, there's now 10 resolutions for the new year. Hope I can fulfill most of them this time :D

Comic Fiesta 2008

I cant really recall if I've to any of the previous comic fiesta or not. Maybe i might mistook it from other event I been to :P

Nonetheless, whether Comic Fiesta 2008 was my 1st or second, it was truly a blast and I really enjoyed myself last Sunday ( though I attended on the 1st day but it was work related XD ) The massive gathering of local doujinshi artists, illustrators, cos-players, anime fans, animators and the comedic (and slightly perverted) duo, Alfred and Chuck as emcees, all under one roof- the RM 15 one-day admission fee was chicken-feed to me (kinda sarcastic -_-" - Ed)

It only thing that was unforgivable was, my own lack of a decent camera (boohoo, who ask you to spent all on figurines- Ed) and working Saturday.

Animasia Booth

Not much about Day 1 though since I pretty much working that morning, manning the booth of our company along with some fellow colleagues. But it nice to see how all the other booth been set up and getting ready to face the big turnout. Took a moment too, to find my other friends whose with their own doujinshi groups - Rose Sakura, Fazuu and Noir Mystere respectively. But most of my time there i spent promoting and selling my company's artbook- Doodle 2008. By noon, time to head back to work in the studio... *cries*

Vocaloid Cosplayer

Day 2- Head back there with everything readied sans the camera with Sakura whose surprisingly was driving, with one year plus experience to boot ( better start to keep in touch with your old friends often, you hermit- Ed). Once I get there, I thought I was in some otaku event on far away eastern land with all the multiple Haruhis, Rankas, and Mikus (which you only notice, perv- Ed) walking around. At the same time brought back to reality the moment the emcees spurting Manglish. Yeah, those guys really did a good job entertaining the crowds especially veteran Alfred and his skirt rising stint (his own skirt, mind you- Ed).

While, Sakura was busy chasing around her obsession with Kaito (of Vocaloid) cosplayers with low-on-battery camera phone around the hall, I chosen to browse the doujinshi artworks one booth at a time. I was kinda surprised to see most of the doujinshi works were on D-Gray Man, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Vocaloid while fangirl fav Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Tengga Toppa Gurren Lagann was hardly making a presence. Before we take a break for lunch, Sakura managed to take an autograph from Kaoru during the Gempak autograph session and some pics of both of them. Not to mention Kaito's (where's those pics?- Ed).

Yanyan finally able to make it later in the afternoon and we also meet up with a couple of old online friends- Mahata and aDerein, as they too selling their doujinshi stuffs. Sakura spent the rest of the day sitting and doodling at the booth while Yanyan and I looked around.

Cosplayers came in good variety and in better quality too, though the usual parade of Bleach and Naruto seems to be absent this year. Instead we got Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, cosplayer favs- Katekyo Hitman Reborn and D-gray Man, Sengoku Basara and a lot more. Even Kauser sama made an appearance from hell. Some were quite daring in their cosplay choice too which were quite attention seeking ( Stop staring, you ero hermit- Ed). Later that day, I managed to borrow a camera from my colleague, Yip to catch some pics of my own. Yatta.

I didnt watch much of the stage show but i did manage to catch some of the solo cosplayer final round which were really entertaining. Though I didnt stick long to find out the winner (which was Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier- Ed) as I did some last minute shopping. But since Chinese New Year is around the corner, I dun dare to spent too much ( not that you gonna spent it on new year clothes- Ed). With the final hour looming and it's better to get back early to rest our sour feet, we finally bid goodbye to CF '08. It's been a great day , thanks.
Before we go, Sakura and I had dinner at Sushi King as Yanyan have to leave earlier for another appointment. Well, till next time then.

Comic Fiesta 2008 Countdown

In couple of days (this Sunday) I'll be attending the biggest end year event of 2008- Comic Fiesta 2008 which will be held on 20-21st of Dec at Sunway Pyramid. Too bad I can't make it on the 1st day due top work commitment *cries*, though some of my friends will be taking the Saturday off.

Anyway, I cant wait for the day to arrive and most probably I'll will spend the whole day there (arrive the moment the ticket booth opens, hopefully still available) :D
Look forward to my post on this event soon ;)

Edited: I have been confirmed as one of morning shift team to man our company booth, Animasia Sdn Bhd tomorrow (1st day). Yatta~

Dragonball (D)Evolution

They always said the first impression is important and judging from the new highly anticipated trailer of the anime fanboy movie of the year 2009- I'm not really impressed. Even when I first saw the the promotional pics months back, I get the feeling that this movie is gonna be so so or worst. And I was hoping the newest debut trailer is gonna live up my expectation. So much for that.

Yeah, I just watched the first official Dragonball Evolution (wtf) trailer on the net. Though I got to preview some rather cool special effect (capsulize bike, city gone nuked, one-hand hamekameha (wtf) but to me, the whole thing looks like a remake of the life action Mortal Combat movie eons back or god forbids, the Street Fighter movie.

Some may say- it just the trailer, not the entire movie. But like I said, first impression counts.

P.S. I never heard of this movie before and it's starring a very Bollywood actor. But at least its first trailer got me impressed and excited XD

Tadaima

I'm back. It been some time since my last post. And now, my working schedule has been somewhat relaxed, i hope i can get back to frequent blogging like last year :3

And so, yesterday i went to watch the new Disney's 3D animation movie- Bolt at the Berjaya Times Square. In my opinion, this new movie was one of the better movies of the year though not as good as Dreamworks' Kung Fu Panda nor Pixar's Wall-E. Under the watchful eyes of Pixar's John Lassenter, the movie scores with its very cute and very endearing main characters, charming but predictable storyline and a visual feast :3
Pet lovers or not, i really recommend this above the other recent one :)

After the movie, I went around the other 2 shopping centers in the area- Low Yat Plaza and Sungei Wang Plaza- browsing for new collective figurines :3 In the end, I went back to Times Square to purchased a newly arrived figure from Revoltech- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

I so gonna make some place at my working desk.. it getting really crowded :P By the way, I'll gonna blog about my job soon. So, till next time ;)

Spending Sunday

With me on the payroll, it's hard not to spent any of it on something. But then again, i'm not the person who spent his hard earn cash on reckless abandon. Well, hopefully i dun end up being like that *laughs*
So for lunch today (since we sick and tired of eating at the same old place every week), we went down memory lane, to one place that we like to eat during our childhood family outing- the A&W restaurant beside Taman Jaya LRT station. Well, actually, we went there only because i offer to buy him lunch as well. Figures.
Btw, we woke up late.

After lunch, he went back home 1st since he got thing to attend to. While I was shopping some essential stuffs at the nearby Amcorp Mall. Well, that what I thought. But after I browsed around the figurine shop located there, I couldnt help myself anymore. So in the end, after some budget calculation, i decided to buy, not one but two figurines.

Gurren Lagann and Lazengann, both from the mecha anime Toppa Tenga Gurren Lagann and the figurines are a part of the Revoltech figurine series which is famous for its high degree of articulation. Spent Rm 150 on both of them. *Grins*

Since i started working, i been collecting some for a while (the cheap Gashapon mostly) and puts them up on my workplace since it's the place we can show off each other's ones. Guess i have to start packing them up for tomorrow *Grin*

Celebrating 27 Years of Existence

Well, not that I was celebrating anything today as the day went past quite normally. The only thing that made today more significant was that i have been around for the full 27 years. So yeah, today's my birthday. Then again, the day went on as usual, save for a few wishes from my colleages. The only birthday gift i received today was the fact i got my salary banked in. Yippee~ At least i got to spent for a present to myself this weekend. Haha. Kinda like a lonely fella isn't it? Lolz

So, a few more years i gonna hit the big 30. Sigh~
Guess I have to work a lot harder and since i have a stable, nice job now, i should be more than grateful. Life better now than 1 year ago. An improvement, i'll say. :D A lot better. Hopefully, it will be great next year and that same day will be a celebration.

Diablo 3 - It's Official

Finally good old Blizzard announced the sequel to one of fav pc game of all time which was made during an event, 2008 Blizzard Invitational in France yesterday. Some fans already expecting it but as for me, I totally shouted out loud when i saw the headline yesterday nite.

Apart from Ragnarok Online, I spent most of my life's gaming time on Diablo 2 which i still playing now occasionally. During that period, me and my bro talk nothing else but Diablo. That was the extent of our "passion". When the expansion, Lord of Destruction came out, i was doing my Form Six at KTAR. Needless to say, i spent more time in cybercafe hacking monsters than studying even till wee hours of the morning :P
Sigh, those was the days.

As for now, spent most of my time on anime, surfing the net and playing on PS2. But when Diablo 3 came out, you bet this otaku gonna be a full time gameboy.

I'm a shy, quiet guy which kinda boring to have around.. me think. But drop me among my siblings or close friends and i can be quite annoying and loud.
Plain blur like sotong. But sometimes, it's best to act blur.
Slow and steady. I like to take my time working at something- which might not a good thing on a job with a deadline. But my works almost always turn out above average.
Spent RM 2000 ++ on multi-level marketing products which turn out useless in the end. Sworn never to get myself into any of those again.
I'm fashion blind. My clothes are mostly hands-me-down from my relatives. And dun really interested in buying new clothes even on Chinese New Year. Plain simple and comfortable.

My current love- my 6 years old PC. Spent most of my free time in front of it. Extremely protective of its well being. Regreted of leaving it in the hand of my bro for almost a year while i'm in hometown. So sorry, dear.

Friends and family. I learned that to fully enjoy life, you must have them both. Appreciate them well.
Video games espesially RPGs. Real life can be extremly dull without them. Living through different lives at the price of one.
Sci-fi and fantasy movies. Nothing beats the feeling of watching fantastic creatures and epic stories on the big srceen.
Reading newspaper, book or mag while having breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's one of those moments that i like to be left alone till i finish either of them or both.

Never let anyone decide for me that can alter my life. Make my own damn decision and stick to it.
Never get too rely on others- even close relatives.
A slacker's life sucks. No money, no purpose, no friends, no life.
Asks and be enlightened or choose to remain quiet and ignorant.
Of all the good things while living in Singapore, it can't beat the familiarity and comfort of my own country. And it's overated.
Divine counseling can be quite intimating and surreal experience. Especially facing with the priest acted as a medium for a an underworld deity. Then again, what he know about the 21st century mortal world.
There's a lot more budding artists with great talents locally than I have imagined. So better buck up.
"A digital illustrator using a mouse to paint is akin to a chef using a hammer to cook although they can get the job done in the end."- a member of Imaginary Friends studio. Meaning, get the best tool for the job.

Hisasiburi Dana

Finally getting the mood to blog again. Since the last update, I've either been busy , having a mental block or just plain lazy. Anyway enough of the excuses, since it's pointless. Heh~
Anyway, during the period, my life was having a transition of sorts. And hopefully a turn for the better. Seems my life got too many turns . Like going into circles.

I'm now back in PJ, staying the same place i left behind a year ago. Kinda ironic issit. And got myself a new job now with even more hectic schedule and longer working hours than any job i work on so far. Well, it least the job is within the industry i into.

To be precise, I'm working in Animasia Studio- an animation house specialized in using flash for making animated tv series. Right now, we are in the middle of a big international project with tight deadline. Great timing. Anyway, been working for almost a month now and kinda settled in. But one thing I yet to get used to is the fast working speed on a assigned job. Well, I'm a slow and steady kinda guy and quite worry that this may cost me the job. But still, my colleagues there are kinda supportive which made my day a little less stressful. As long i try a bit hard everyday, I'll think i can improve sooner or later.

Well, it kinda late and I not sure what to write about. But there another posting that i took the time previously to write, right after this post :)

CJ7 Review

It's hard not to compare Stephen Chow Sing Chi latest movie, CJ7 with his previous blockbuster kungfu flick, Kungfu Hustle. Then again, comparing the two was like comparing an apple with a orange. Unlike all his previous movies, this time Stephen Chow aims not only to make the audience laugh but to cry as well. So expectation for this movie was very high which might not a very good thing.

CJ7 was a heart warming sci-fi comedy about a single father trying to give the best to his son dispite being a hardcore poor. Working as a construction labourer by day and rubbish savanger by night, Ting (Stephen Chow) placed his son, Dicky (Xu Jiao) in the best school, hoping to give him a better future. But Dicky, bullied often by his rich classmates and fed up with his father's moral naggings, wish to be able to compare with his better-off peers. But things changed when, Ti pick something from the rubbish dump and brought it home to Dicky which turn out to be an alien toy-like creature.
In this movie, Stephen Chow took a backseat and let his new child actress to take the limelight. Xu Jiao play the role of the son very well, in both comic and heart-tearing moments. As for Chow, his supporting role of a doting father was a far cry from his previous over-the-top main characters. The usual "mou lei tao" or nonsense have been toned down to make way for Disney-like feeling of this movie. Still, the movie has its geniunely funny moments.
Visually, well, honestly it was not quite on par with the effects you seen on Kungfu Hustle or even Shaolin Soccer. While Kungfu's effect was to enhance its contents to be mind blowing, CJ7's only serve as a essential ingredient to the story such as the alien "dog" which can only to be created via CG. Then again, we already seen a lots of cutesy CG characters running around in live-action movies these days. Then again, the dog, CJ7 hence the title, was made very cute and adorable. I can imagine what kind plush doll to a be hit in this season's Valentine.
Overall, the movie really lacks the fun and the grand feeling of the previous movies. The variety of the weird characters, the pictureque location sets, the "cool" dance moves, real mean villains, mind blowing special effect and action sequence, all seems to be missing in this movie. CJ7 was not bad actually and can really serve as great Father's Day movie. But we want a movie that was damn infection to watch and talk about for a long time over a cup of tea tarik. Still, CJ7 did make many of the audience cry and that's what Stephen Chow wants in this movie. Excuse me, but i think i gonna watch Kungfu Hustle for the upteenth time.

Cloverfield Review

It can be said as the first most anticipated blockbuster movie of the year 2008. Cloverfield started out a year ago a secretive movie project, codenamed "01.18.08." by the director, Matt Reeves -fueled by a rather smart online marketing ploy involving a soft drink and "leaked" info and pics. Even though hardly anything know about this movie apart from the official poster, trailer and casting, the movie was hyped to the stratosphere by the movie fans online.

So how was the movie fare to the audience when it was finally released a few days ago. For me, this monster movie really doesnt deserved the hype it created. No, it not a bad movie, just it can be better especially the storyline. More on that later.

Cloverfield was shown like viewing though a hand held video camera. It's about a group of friends in Manhattan, New York, planning and video taping a surprise farewell party for Rob Hawkins, who was going to Japan to hold a high ranking job. This previously upset his girlfriend Beth McIntyre , who did show up in the party but in the end left after a argument with Rob. It beginning to feel almost like a romantic comedy scenario when suddenly things gone very bad. A Godzilla-sized monster appeared and went on a unstoppable rampage through Manhattan. Worried about Beth's safely, Rob, along with a couple of close friends, set out to her apartment miles away to rescue her.

Technically, the movie really shine here. The "Blair Witch Project" camera view throughout the movie really get u into the action. You almost feel you were there with the characters, living through their most intense and dangerous moments of their lives. Still, the jerking and spinning around of the view can really put off some people. While people like me, who clocked hundreds of hours playing first person view video games (Half-Life, Quake, Halo etc) can truly enjoy the experience.

The SFX department really work hard to bring the monster to live and create the destruction it brought. The creature was far more intimating and invincible than the Hollywood version of Godzilla. And those little things it spawn really reminded me of Starcraft's zerdlings. How cool is that.

Still, great SFX doesnt make great movie and storywise, there a lot of work to be done. While the flow of plot was rather good, there a lot of loose ends. The whole plot was too generic if u ask me- boy and friends find girl, one by one friend drop death, boy finally found girl, tragic twist in the end etc etc.

By the end of the movie, it may leave you feeling unsatisfied which many of the audiences did. I got the feeling this movie act like a introduction to a sequel. Well, that's what i think. It a decent movie and one of the best monster ride out there nonetheless.

Back To Singapore..... Again

I went to Singapore the other day... last Saturday actually, to attend a career fair held at Suntech City Convention Hall during the weekend. So any result this time? Well, i can say it was a tiresome experience that doesnt worth the trouble i went into.

Prior to the visit, i not very optimistic about the chances that this job fair got to offer. The fact is, i went online to find out more about the companies which involved in the fair. Well, mostly from the manufacturing, hospitality and insurance industry. Almost none from the creative industry. Well, almost b'cos there one particular company with the word "art" in its company name ( as it turn out later, it wasnt worth even to remembering its full name). Nonetheless, i gave chance a chance and prepare myself to go there- portfolio burning, resume printing etc etc.

When i arrive there at noon, there was already throngs of people waiting in line to get themselves registered (which was required for any big fair like this). After registering which took a while, i went in and browse around to familiarize myself and to look around the companies' respective booths. Nothing here interest me much, which was rather disappointing. Anyway, there was a lot of people here, from different walks of life. Young parents who brought their misbehaving kids, middle aged uncles, fresh grads and foreigners apart from Malaysians like myself. The most troublesome thing that u required to do here before you apply for any job was u have to upload your resume in the main sponsor site- JobsDB.com. Since you have registered earlier, they gave out a id card with a barcode to hand round ur neck and filmsy cloth bag with the big sponsor logo to put in ur "goodies" (flyers, bousers, free angpow packets etc etc).

There were a lot of laptop booths set upped for the upload purposes but so were there hundreds of people waiting in line for the same reason too. Things didnt help when most took their own sweet time to even type out their name. Luckily there 're helpers hired to help to speed things up but not much anyway. After waiting for almost eternity for my turn, I just whipped out my id card, scan it, took out my pendrive and just load my resume, filled in some info and then log off. All that just took at most 2 minutes. I cant even believe some people can spent more than half an hour to did theirs- i waited behind one before getting off to somewhere else. And when you done you'll get a green sticker from another counter to prove you have uploaded ur resume. Did it worth it? Well, i can only applied for one suitable job of all the jobs out there. Sigh~~~ And that job was not even from the company which the word "art" in its name. The booth was there all rite, but the staffs seems to be MIA the whole time.

Hungry, tired and frustrated, i spent my remaining day McD'ing, window shopping and browsing creative related magazines which yield better experiences and worthwhileness before retiring to my aunt's house. And no, i dun even want to write what my aunt nag this time for my unemployment. Not worth mentioning them. This time i went back home the next day.

New Year 2008

Today is New Year's eve and in a few hours later, we'll ushered into the year 2008. While most people around my age in the country went out and celebrate the big occasion, I on the other hand, have no choice but to feel melancholy about this. For me, there's not much to celebrate about. Anyway, i still rather looking hopeful for the new year ahead.

I never really did New Year resolutions before though i always try out something in the middle of the year before giving up midway (exercising regularly etc). Still, i hope to make one this year.

1. Get a decent creative-related job.
2. Lost 15 kg of fat and gain 5 kg of muscle.
3. Make and finish my own manga/comic.
4. Learn to read and write Mandarin.
5. Learn basic Japanese.
6. Take a driving lesson test.
7. Buy a PC tablet.
8. Be more people friendly.
9. Update my blog more often.
10. Make at least 2 finished artworks a week.

Hopefully, i able to fulfil all of them by the end of next year. Guess i have to add stronger willpower to the list too, lol. Anyway, before i pen off the final post of the year, I like to thank anyone for reading this blog for the past 2 years. Yeah, the blog is two years old already. And before I forget, wish you all Happy New Year 2008.

Formerly known as "1-18-08" the movie is shrouded in secrecy with its plot and production kept tight. From the teaser trailers, it is suggested as a monster movie with "blair witch project" like camera work. For me, it looks promising.

This movie take place when man and mammoth share the planet. Expect caveman action when the hero hunter leads an army to take on a warlord while saving his love.... By the same guy that brought us Independent Day and Day after Tomorrow.

The new Stephen Chow movie, most likely to be screen the next Chinese New Year. Expect madcap comedy and cool special effect. The movie is about a poor laborer father played by Chow and his young son. When a fascinating and strange new pet enters their lives, they learn a poignant lesson about the true nature of family and the things money can't buy.

Firstly a Halloween greeting to those zombie, witch and ghoul wannabes out there celebrating. Wow, it marks a begining of the year's end already. Time sure flies...

Anyway, it's been some time since i last posted. Ever since my bro brought my own PC back from my last residence during Raya, i been spending an awful lot of time in front of it. Not playing games, mind you, but honing my digital illustration skill. Still, the process is slow and painsaking (not to mention using a, only available, faulty mouse) but it's sure worth it. This month alone, i've finished 3 artworks. Do view them at my Deviantart page :) The pic featured here is one of them :D

Unfortunately my eyes still 've not get used to staring at the monitor screen for a long period, like it used to (a feat during my collage years). Must' ve been getting old.. lol. Anyway i spent the alternate time sketching and well, watching TV. My mum already complaining i spent too much time on the pc, resulting higher electrical bill- not that i seen this month's bill yet... At least it's better that watching TV all day.

Jobwise, i try not to think and dwell about it to much. Better spent the time and energy doing more positive and productive work- more artworks. I beginning to think myself as a poor artist spending much of his time alone painting in his studio.. lol. If my works is good enough, good offers will surely come. Till then, i ought to improve myself more and try to get more exposure.

Hari Raya Greetings From Space

Look up in the sky. Finally we have our own countryman in space. Congratulations to Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor for becoming the 1st Malaysian to rocket into space yesterday. It seems sweeter to have it held in conjunction with the Hari Raya festival. And the "Angkasawan" will be celebrating his' in the International Space Station with fellow albeit, foreign astronauts.

And close to home thousands if not, millions have watch the liftoff live in television and even on the net. I, unfortunately, missed the live broadcasting and only follow the event in todays newspaper.. Well, some people dun really seems to care much about the event at all- like my family. LOL. Guess they rather care about how the government dealing with the rising crime and cost of living than something that had nothing to do with their life directly- like sending a man into space.

I for one, hoping something better come out of this thing in the future. Rather than rely on other country's technology or resources, I hope in my lifetime, the country can send men into space using our own built rocket. Then again so can our football team in the World Cup finals.

Anyway, Selamat Hari Raya to all and Malaysia Boleh!

Divine Intervention? Or Irritation?

I must been so stupid... Gave up a confirmed job offer for another job which dun really exist... yet. Well, just hear me out.

Weeks ago while i was still a part time sensei, i been to an interview in Singapore for a job as a graphic designer as i mention in a post sometime ago. The interview went quite well, 'cept a bit problem with my expected salary. The highest they can offer was SG$ 1000 which i thought compared to the island's cost of living and the market price of graphic designer (i did my research)- was quite low. Anyway, i went back hometown while the interviewer who happens to be the editor had to discuss with others before confirmation. He promised contact me again the next week.

In the meantime, when my Singapore aunt heard about the news, she was wary about my choice of employer. She immediately lectured me 'bout malay people not being trustworthy and worried 'bout me being accidentally embroiled in some sort of terrorist plot (omg *sweats*). I try to make sense of things and ensure her fear was unfounded. Naturally i was quite dismay 'bout her racist claims and her being paranoid 'bout things. She either dun trust my employer or in me or both. I even got a lecture from my uncle 'bout national security and stuffs later. Talk about "kiasi" (fear of death or trouble). *sweats*

Back home across the strait, my mum brought me to a never-visit-before temple to pray and to get consultation from the deity. It seems a there a famous taoist priest there able to act as a medium for the deities. I scoffed at the idea. I never much of a religious guy and i never like doing all those putting all the joss sticks at every altar in the temple. Too troublesome for me, i guess. But still i do believe in God and for me praying is all about sincerity and nothing else in between. Short and simple.

Anyway, the taoist believe a wide range of gods and pray from all of them. That means a bunch of altars around the temple. What's new and strange for me was there was a small hut which inside lit up with only purple light. This houses the altars for the deities from the underworld. It kinda creepy putting up black coloured joss sticks in this cold (the only aircon room) purple shaded atmosphere. The consultation even took place here... and the deities whom to give consult were from hell itself. My mum explain different nights may have different deities. Some are stern and serious, and other are joyous and friendly- all in one medium. Talk about split personality. I personally witnessed two different characters in two different nights ( i been there twice last month).

It easy been sceptical about this deity from hell ( i kept thinking and referring to those shinigamis in Soul Society of Bleach fame, lol) but I do admit this guy have some sort of psychic-like ability. The advice seems logical and he advise me to take up interior design for a better financial future (like i have to money to take on) . Btw, he seems up to date to modern times and even spoke a few english words. Lol. My mum and little bro was there to be consult too. Mum was for health and finance and my bro was for safety and study- even get a bit of scolding for his disobedient... The priest/deity asked help from a fellow temple friend who was a singaporean to help me to find a better job for me. So now i have a choice.

My mum went there for a few times to get advice to set up a ancestor altar at home for better blessing. As for me, I was waiting at home for confirmation from the malay employer when it finally came. They offer me the job for SG$ 1000 (final figure) and i need to confirm myself for the job. As i was getting ready, my mum back from the temple told me to turn the job down and wait for a better job the temple friend helping to find. Even the priest/deity adviced so. As for myself too hoping for a better paying job in better enviroment and due to both family pressure and the so-called power of suggestion, i turned the job down. I even quit the tiution job. Sigh~

Now being jobless again, i not sure if i made the right choice or being stupid to believe all those things. Still, i can only hope to the sincerity of those people that are really trying to help.

Ratatouille

There is a saying- "Better late than never". Months after the movie, Ratatouille released locally, much to my relief and excitement, I finally able watch the Animation Movie of The Year which was still playing in the cineplex. Yeah!

Pixar did it again! After a rather generic but visually shining "Cars", my initial feeling about this movie was not very encouraging. I was thinking the story was a bit like "City rat and country mouse" or something like that after watching the 1st trailer. Not really fancy that kind of story plot. Soon i heard its developing story which turn out to be something else. Still I didnt get my hope up. When i finally watch the movie, i never expect i was thrown a curve ball by Pixar. And i love it.

Remy was no ordinary rat. He was born able to taste, smell and appreciate fine food- something that his family, brother Emile and father Djangon finds it odd. Guided by Remy's imaginary mentor, the recently deceased legendary chef, Auguste Gusteau, he aims to live a life of gourmet. But in the world where rats are considered as the much feared dirty food stealing pests, it was an impossible dream. Remy's life set to change, when he was accidentally separated from his rat colony and ends up in Gusteau's restaurant in "Paree" (Paris). And his chance came when a new garbage boy, Alfredo Linguini "cooks" up an incident that form a partnership between the rat and the hopeless as a cook boy.

Like the finest food, the movie was served with the best of both world- storyline and visual, all mixed so perfectly. Director, Brad Bird was truly a genius at storytelling combining with the great wizards at Pixar making this movie not only a visual feast but an endearing fun story for the whole family.

True to Pixar's standard, the animation in the movie was truly breathtaking. Paris was rendered in its most beautiful best on the big screen. Food so real you can almost taste and smell it. And characters animated so believable you just wanna hug them (or slap them silly depending on who). Some details were so fine you have to pause the movie to take a better look (one reason to buy the DVD).

The idea of Remy's voice narrating his story through the movie was with all the pausing effect, the talking illustration of Gusteau, the cooking training of Linguini, the rat's prepective of Paris urban life, the visualizing of taste and the trigger-happy grandma was really fun to watch. Any movie-goer whom missed this should have a rat put under his or her shirt.

Bleach: Memories Of Nobody

After waiting for almost 1/2 a year for a subbed version, I finally got my eyes on the 1st full-length Bleach movie- The Memories of Nobody. After much hoohaa in the fandom, is this movie worth the wait? Well, I 'll get on to that soon. Before that a little intro 'bout the movie.

The movie took place after the Soul Society arc of the main storyline, maybe in the middle of the filler story of the anime series ( Those whom are new to the series, better watch or read it to better understand the movie). It was the autumn holiday ( i think it was), Ichigo and Rukia were busy doing the best thing they do- slaying Hollows and giving soul burial. Suddenly they encounter a large group of strange red-headed souls- the Blanks. With communication to the Soul Society strangely cut off, Ichigo and Rukia were at wits in what to do when a female Shinigami suddenly appeared and destroy all the Blanks there. Baffled at the event, Rukia went back to Soul Society to check things out while Ichigo was ordered to look after the playfully childish shinigami, Senna. Soon things turned more grim as a dimension- The Valley of Scream, was manipulated by a group of rogue shinigami oucasts, threaten to destroy both the real world and Soul Society. And what is the connection between the event, Senna and something called the Memory Rosary?

Ok, The movie was not as great as i thought it would be. Seriously, the plot was simple and kinda predictable. It would be better if they just focus on either the storyline or the fight scene rather than crammed a lot of things into it. Some characters were pretty irrelevant to the storyline. Guess they were showed up just to please their respective fans... And as for the fight scene, well- those in the anime series are much better. Though some of the sinkais seems pretty cool to watch here.

As usual, with bigger budget brings better animation. Karakura Town was never been so populated and alive before. The beautiful background cityscape really suit the romantic like atmosphere which were aplenty in this movie (hint hint). Sword fights are more flashy but as I mentioned,unmemorable which was a real pity considering its big screen status and its target audiences. Next time hire a good martial art choreographer. As for the new characters, I really like Seena, a frail, confused girl hidden by her happy face and playfulness. Too bad she got too little fight scene. The mention of her so called lost legendary sword seems pointless. And the head villian hardly makes the impact. Pretty generic too.

Well, this movie has it all- action, comedy, friendship, sacrifice etc but it could be better. It had its touching moments though. I really like its ending song- Sen no Yoru wo Koete from Aqua Timez. And do watch till the credit ends for a little epilogue.

Mid Autumn Blues

Firstly- Happy Mid Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival as more commonly said. Although it's one often most celebrated chinese holiday in the calender around but still, you wont find my own household celebrating it as well as the years gone by. I just treat it as any other day amidst the mooncakes and those traditional titbits around the house. And no candle lit decos in the perimeter nor those over-commercialized lanterns. Ain't kids anymore. Maybe I dun have anyone who is joyous to celebrate with.. sigh~

Anyway, on a more happy note, I finally got myself an interview appointment across the straits in Singapore. If successful, i got myself a job as a Graphic Designer in an company dealling with educational mag and stuffs. Hopefully i dun mess up this chance. Wish me luck :)

GTO -Great Teachin' Otaku

I'm officially a teacher now... Well, not full time though but a teacher nonetheless.
I'm now teaching on a weekly basic a class of three pre-secondary students on Bahasa Melayu and English in a local tuition center.

The 1st class which was last Monday, was not easy. With my limited mastery of Mandarin, i'm having difficulty explaining the subjects to my Chinese-educated students. Not to mention one of them keep disrupting the class. Plus they are one curious bunch- on my personal stuffs... Sigh~
Anyway, i think i did well on my part. Hopefully....

On another hand, i'll keep on finding a full time job either locally or across the Johor strait. Depending on the situation i might have to quit the sensei job. Hmm. I see how things first. In the mean time, i best prepare for the next class.

Ragnarok 2 Online SEA

It's been a while i have not blog anything other than myself. Haha.
Anyway, this time i post something interesting for a change.

As, you all well aware, i'm a big fan of Ragnarok Online even though i've not play it for sometime. Still, i'm looking forward for its sequel and hoping to get my hands on it soon. Guess what, the good guys from Asiasoft (thanks god it's not gameflier) are bringing the much awaited Ragnarok 2 Online here in this region. The official website is up and running now and it features a new cinematic video (painfully low-res) and a couple of wallpapers to download. It also got a shortcut to its own official forum and a space to fill up so you'll get updates via email. Still, the website lacks some basic info about the game. Hope they update that soon.
So check it out you guys.

9th Month

August came and gone. And now into the month of September. Sigh~
Been almost a month and yet not much has change. No job, no money, no idea... getting lost.
Yeah, hardly any job here since it's small town after all and no one offering any despite my family network of friends. Or so they say. So now, i'm face with a dilemma- continue staying in hometown and waiting for any job offers- locally or from singapore; or go back to KL where it's more malaysian friendly....
And like all choices, there's the pros and cons of all things.

My mum wishes me to work in singapore or locally so that i can be nearer to home. And by staying at home, i dun need spend any money for anything since almost everything is provided (except pc and online). Not that i doing nothing at home, mind you. As any good son or daughter, i did my share of housework and stuffs. The bad part is that i could be waiting forever for work as time pass by wastefully and Singapore may just be too advanced for me.

If i go back to KL to find job, it might be easier but previous problems that made me leave the 1st time may crop up. 1st is the cost of living- family just dun have the money to let me spent in KL. Second, the transportation- some workplaces just inconvenient to reach, unless u own a car or live nearby. And 3rd is maybe my portfolio- just not good enough or just too unspecialize. I'm a jack of all trades but master of none.
Well, just say i not sure what to do now..

On another note, since i have all the time at home, i been working on a story or stories of my own manga. Everything still pretty rough now and not even sure if i can pull it off. Been doing a lot of concept art these days. Just too bad i dun have a decent pc of my own or else thing will be much easier. On another hand, i been working out too for some time. Yeah, i got fatter and lazier so it's wise to start exercising. Hope i can get fitter and better looking by the year end :D

August Independence.... Not

Wow, it been some time yet again since i last updated. This month onwards dun think i able to update as much as the last two months. I've moved back to my Johor home days ago as the result of my unsuccessful job search in Singapore and guess i'll be staying here quite indefinitely. Till i can comfirm a job in Singapore that is.

Being back here i hometown means i dun have a free internet access in ther comfort of my home. So posting number will drop drastically i guess. Worst, without a PC and a scanner- dun think I can upload anything new on my deviantart... sigh~ Here goes my motivation.
On another hand, since i was back on the comfort of my own home, things are more liberal. I free to to things my way without the usual nagging during my stay at Singapore. Hey, i can stay up way past 12am here without anyone tell me when to sleep. I'm Free at last..

Anyway, since i'll staying here quite a while, it's better for me to look for a temporary job lest i got fat and lazy sitting at home. And guess what, i got an interview for an art tutor tomorrow. Yeah, it's only an interview but it's better than nothing.. So wish me luck.
By the way, Malaysia and Singapore both having their National Day this month. So Happy Birthday~~

I've been busy logging on and off my deviantArt account these past few days, doing some artworks and uploading them. Apart from the endless cycle of sending resume and waiting pointlessly for the reply (sigh~), it's better to focus on something else and be a bit productive.

For those who dunno what is DeviantArt, it an online art gallery where you can have your own space to show off ur work to other budding artists. Great place to jump start if you are into this path for career like me :) And meet new like-minded friends too.

Caught By Enchanted

I caught by this movie trailer when i was at the cinema the other day and got quite enchanted and interested.

This typical Disney movie tells a story of a princess in a animated world magically transported to our real life world by her evil soon-to-be mother-in-law queen. See her singing and dancing ala like other Disney cartoon, while her new found friend looks amused and awkward around her, find her way back home. Meanwhile her love lost prince too got into this world to find her, at the same time, his mother hell-bent on killing the princess.

While the storyline seems unoriginal but the movie seems charming and hilarious enough. Just wait and see how it goes.

Rebuild of Evangelion

As a long time fan of the original anime series, I was equally exciting about the up coming movies retelling or altered the storyline of the series. Pretty soon, i caught hold of some details regarding the cult classic anime.
A series of 4 movie will be released in year and the following year. The 1st three movies will retelling an alternate story of anime series while the fourth one is an entirely differrent new ending to the original story. Hopefully this will provide a much more satisfying ending.

And due to be release in Japanese theaters this september, the 1st movie remake titled "Evangelion Shin Gekijou Ban EVA 0.1: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE".
The second one will be screened in January 2008 and the third and fourth movies will be released back to back in the summer. Cool~ hope they are released in Singapore too*grin*

And looking at the 1st movie's trailer, seems all the characters, evas and angels are given the visual upgrade. Uses of CGIs are noticeable throughout the trailer.
Seeing how things turn out, i cant wait for the movies. Now, if only i know the progress of the much anticipated live-action version. :D

Harry Potter And the Order Of The Phoenix

By this time, everyone seems to go Pottermania ever since this movie was going to be released and the soon to be available final book of Harry Potter tomorrow. As for me, I might or might not get the book. But not until I know whats going on with Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince :) Anyone might wanna lent me a copy?

So this movie was about Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts and this time things going against the young wizard. Tormented emotionally by the return of Lord Voldemort and the disbelieving Minister of Magic, Harry became darker and full of hate. Face the immediate threat of his arch-nemesis and his growing army of evil, Harry must confront his own darkness while preparing his army of his own with his circle of friends. In the sametime rebeling against the meddling ignorance of Ministry of Magic's Dolores Umbridge who replaced Dumbledore as the headmaster. Storywise, well, since it was adapted from the novel, i must say it was very well written. As for the movie, to fit the entire novel into the 2 hours screen time was impossible, so rather it focus on Harry's fight against Lord Voldemort and the rebellion of course. I never read any of the novels, so i say the plot and the pace of the movie was great and engaging to watch. Miss the Quidditch match which was actually omited in this movie.

Visually, well, I have a liking to fantasy movie due to fasinating sets, explosive magical spells and great creature designs. And all Harry Potter's films tend to be great visually. Magical world, stunning fight scenes especially at the climax of the film when Dumbledore takes on Lord Voldemort one on one. Beats any real life firework shows. And not forget the other highlight of the movie- the kissing scene between Harry and Cho which last longer than i thought it would be, much to the chagrin of any Harry female fans *snigger*
Well, compare to Cho and the new character of the movie, Luna, i prefer the later's optimistic personally anytime. As for the movie, it a great watch but doesnt warrant a second. Better spent the money on the novels, i think. Or wait for the dvd. Or boths :)

Cousin Cheong's Wedding

I wished to post this as early as possible but circumstances didnt allow it. So here is it now.

6th July 2007, Friday. Family members from the south that expected to present all had arrived in the afternoon. We spent that remaining day looking around my cousin house and having a tour to the famous landmark KLCC.
Next morning. The morning. I rushed from my brother house in PJ to Wangsa Melawati only to just missed the "Fetch the Bride" groom's group. Aye~ guess i have to stay at my cousin's house along with a few relatives (most that went are youngters and those young at heart).
An hour or so later, and they were back with the bride. And since i was the youngest male relative, i was assigned to open the car's door for the groom and bride. So we all relaxing and preparing to go to the church for the wedding ceremony later in the affternoon.
OMG, notice the black oily stain on the bride's dress.
No problem. With the combined ingenuity of experienced aunties and a product from Amway (really, but forget the name), the ugly stain was removed speck and span. Wedding embarrassment adverted :D
Moments later, the tea-serving ceremony began. Tea were served to the elders while the younger ones served the tea to the newly weds. Most, if not all wished them to be "productive" early. *snigger*
To the church then. A few minutes drive, we were ushered into a newly build commercial lots where the church located. Nice interior huh.
Let the ceremory began. Oh look- cutey flower girls from the bride's family side.
Followed by the bride and her father.
Nope, this not the groom. The couple were seated as the groom's brother, Cousin San, a pastor himself gave a well thought and witty speech about marriage. "I do" Those words were spoken by the groom and bride respectively. Not before my cousin spoke some moving words that reduced the brige to tears. Aww~
And the rings exchanged to seal the marriage. Pretty obvious izzit :P
Well, i not sure what this called for i not familiar with the Christian wedding. But i understand the to two candle represent two individuals now joined as one as the middle candle.
I pronounced you Husband and Wife. You may now kiss the bride. Haha, the moment we all, groom included, waiting for. Photographers in frenzy.
Two families are now one. Congrats to both. :D
Straight after the wedding ceremony, we went for the wedding dinner at Chow Kit, KL (shoot, i forget the restaurant's name.) Too bad by this time, i didnt shoot more pics since my camera batteries ran low and there's food to enjoy :P
Before the dinner ended, the groom and his bro took the opportunity to sing along to a love song. Too bad there's no encore as the groom was too shy to sing again.. lol
So there was it. What an eventful day. Again, i wish the newly weds a big congratulation and live happily ever after.

Overweight and Underproductive

This few months of living without finance related food restriction has made me gain some weight. How is that? Haha, you see- back when i was living in PJ, away from home, i'll always restricted my spending on food. So i almost had plain rice or bread everyday for both lunch and dinner. Yeap, i seldom had breakfast. Even then, i was occupied with stuffs to do like doing digital art or gaming on my pc. So i was too busy to eat. Then again, there nothing to eat anyway. Even i didn't exercise much, i only gain a little weight.

So now, full plated lunch and dinner everyday and not to mention some cookies munching in the time between, i was so pampered at home. Even during my stay at Singapore, my aunt make sure i have 3 meals a day. And without some calories burning, my stomach transformed into a tyre. *sweats* Now, my problem is i dun really motivated to do some exercise. Yeah, you can say i was pretty lazy. I rather let stress fix this for me when i work, hopefully soon enough.

Transformers

Ever since i was a child, i'll always fantasized with robots, especially those robots anime from Japan. Robotech, Gundam, Voltron and even Transformers. Well, actually Transformer were originated from Japanese toys which the Americans thinks it was cool to promote it as a cartoon series during the 1980s. And i pretty much enjoyed the whole Transformer cartoon series since transforming from vehicles to robots was really cool those days and even now. Fast forward to the present day, and now there's a life-action movie based on the cartoon classic and it was even produced by my favourite director, Steven Spielberg. How cool was that.

And those who think the the Pirates of the Caribbean finale was the movie of the summer, think again. The movie really packed enough firepower to sink even the Flying Duchman. *snigger*

The movie was about 2 group of Transformers, the good Autobots and the evil Decepticons battling each other for the all powerful artifact- the All Spark which was discovered on Earth. And sure enough, thrown in a midst of this intergalactic war, a human teenagar, Sam Witwicky who holds the key to the location of the artifact.

Okay, to those whose are blown away by the visual of pirate movie or even 300's dancing of death, prepare to be blast supernova by the visual effect of this movie. When i laid eyes on the first transformation in the opening scene, my jaw totally dropped and my eyes freeze fixed on the screen. Yeah, it was that good. The robots, the transformation, the big slug fest- everything was done perfectly to applease the the types like myself. Never on any medium, i have witnessed robots laying the smack down on each other like they did on Transformers. It almost a childhood dream came true. *grin*

As for the plot and the story, well, i hoped better. The thing about this movie like any other big sci-fi movies, it emphasized more on the visual aspect of the movie. Still, it did better than other. Plot wise, it went quite well making the story engaging to the end but a bit predictable if you asked me. And there are some things in the movie that doesnt really make sense to me, especially at the end. It's a lame excuse to bring death and destruction in middle of a crowded city.

Anyway, the way i see it, the robots were the true star of the movie, not try-too-hard-to-get-a-girl and occasionally emotional Sam (Shia LaBeouf) or the body-licious Mikaela (Megan Fox). It was the trusty Bumblebee, good-old Optimus Prime and the funny riot Frenzy that will definitely get my second viewing or even a third. Get the dvd too.

4th July 2007: 26 Years Of Existence

Yow~ it's this day again.

As the years past, the day's significance has reduced to nothing but an ordinary day. Unless you are living on that particular country, there nothing to celebrate about around me.

Well, this year, this date's importance have been over-shadowed by one date, - 07.07.2007. Yeah, apart from the once in a lifetime mega event, Live Earth, there also an event much more closer to home- Cousin Cheong's official wedding day. Yup, as i mention another day, i guess i'll be going to KL to attend the wedding after all. Anyway, i'll brag about the day on another post soon.

As for me, my 26 years of life is getting more.... how i put it, uneventful. No job, no close friends around me, no one really understand me- i dun even understand myself sometimes, and no place to belong to. Strange to think about it that how my life has come to this. What's the reason of my existence?

Most of my family said that i still young. Young, ...young?! People at the age of 25 already achieved much in their life, their dream, their career, and i still struggling around for survival. Why i ended up like this? Where did i go wrong?

"Dont dream too big, better to leave your foot on the ground."

What? So that i can be like you working under someone like hell just for sake of money and survival. Please. Life is much more that that.

Is my thinking wrong? Or life is really just like that? Why can i do things i want in life instead to be governed by money?

I really adore those guys who now really sucessful just by doing the things they like- which not related to money. Steven Spielberg- filming, Rumiko Tanaka- manga drawing, J.K. Rowling- writing and many others. All these individual are rich and famous in their respective field. It not all about money. And they all started when they are younger than me now, well except for Rowling.

I really wish now for a chance to do the thing that i have passion of, that give me more to my life that just survival.

Revenge Of The Otakus

I was browsing the net this wonderful morning in search of singapore version of Akihabara (deeply miss KL's version- Sungai Wang Plaza and surroundings) when i stumble upon this post of a fellow singaporean otaku blogger.

It seems that a private anime license holding company are seriously clamping down on "illegal" download of fansub anime o.O. Well, i've heard rumours of letter of court being sent around targeting bittorret downloaders. Turns out to be true.

The company, Odex Pvt Ltd have been sending letter to an unknown number of singapore otakus who were caught using bittorret to download licensed anime such as Bleach and Naruto. Most if not all, settled the fine out of court to date.

But this matter had set a outrage among otaku nationwide online and off due to questionable privacy issues and strongarm tactics akin to blackmailing. This does no help as the company's anime products (vcds and dvds) are said to be of crude quality and even looked as if taken from the fansubbed anime as well *shock*

As i browse through the comments, the otakus are rallying for a boycott of the company's products and in midst of writing a formal letter of complain to the national newspaper regarding the matter. And on the other hand, the company seems to dismiss and downplay such incident.

As for me, i'm an otaku too but then again doesnt wish to have things get ugly especially if things turn against us. As for now, better lay low and stick to manga scanlation :P

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

The 1st time i saw the movie poster in a local (Singapore) newspaper, i notice somewhat particular about the picture. At 1st i thought it resembles to Hayao Miyazaki's style. But further research on the net, the character was designed by the same guy who create Rei Ayanami and Evagelion mechas, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Wow~ Then i found out this movie won the hearts of critics and some awards in film fest from France to Germany. Ok, a must watch anime of 2006/7.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo) was directed by Mamoru Hosoda and produced by Madhouse Studio, famous for anime flicks like Death Note and NANA. It was based on a manga of a same name and apparently there's a life-action movie version had been made in 1980s. LOL

The story is about a tomboyish high school girl, Makoto Konno accidentally discover that she have the ability to time leap which, she used extravagantly to avoid being late in school and score a prefect mark in exam. Able to go back in time to redo the stuff she like and fixing past mistakes, little does she realise that in doing so may hurt the others around her. And the more she undid the time, the worst it gets.

The animation was top notch as expected from a big shot studio. The town and backdrop city was rendered beautifully with great detail and nice feel to it. Some scene really capture the impact as the main character fall and roll around. Really like the scene between time and space, and also when time freeze up in the movie.

The storyline was fantastic and may be on par with the movies from Studio Ghibli. The plot, while some scene was a bit slow, was really engaging with all the time travel around. It may sound complicated but the storyline was pretty easy to follow. Watching Mokoto's antics while she undid past was really enjoyable. There was twist and turn and heartaching moments that keep the story more interesting than other time-travel inspired animes.

Still, some of the dialogue was rather strange to accept like the Mokoto's aunt told her that, "time leap was normal among teenager her age but rare", with a nonchalant tone. Go figure. Anyway, the movie is one of the best anime i watch in recent years and worth going out and get the DVD. And do prepare urself emotionly. The scene when Mokoto cries loudly really can make you wanna reach out to console her. I did.

Late June Update

I haven't updated for a few days since i went back to my Johor home for a week due to my cousin's wedding lunch held over there on Sunday. Why a week? Well, dont feel like going back to singapore. Kinda stressful >.<" Anyway I've back again and yet again still in a middle of job hunting.. Erg, getting real tired of this. As for the wedding lunch, well, it was quite enjoyable. Then again,it's nothing out of the ordinary. I pretty much expected what type of food were served, which tasted quite ok. Maybe i can wait the official wedding dinner that will be held on 7th July at Kuala Lumpur. The bride and groom cuts the cake. Too bad i never got the taste of it later.

Haha, actually for my cousin's wedding, there will be 3 wedding lunch/dinner held at 3 different places respectively, to cater the local friends and relative. First at Johor, then at Sarawak (the bride's hometown) and finally at KL which is the actual wedding date.
I still not sure i able to joint the KL dinner since i'm stuck here looking for a job. See 1st then :P

Anyway, a big congrats to Cousin Cheong and his bride and all the best :D

CG Overdrive 2007 Singapore.

The CG Overdrive '07 was being held at The Singapore Expo from 16th to 22nd June, which is Asia's largest yearly computer graphic conference showcase and i, luckily able attend this truely world class event... even as a lowly visitor. lol

DAY 1
As i arrived, i was greeted by this big signboard. Guess i was in the right place. Now, where is Hall 9? Soon i able to find my way to the hall enterance. But before i can enter the public exibition, i need to register myself 1st at the booth above. Since i was there early, there are fewer people than i thought.
Yeah, my namepass and by the way, the visitor registration was free. *grin* Now into the exibition :D
Wow~ it looks better than i thought. There are exibition booths from lots of companies and education centers which are dealing in the computer graphic industry like animation or digital illustration.
Check out this car! Awesome paint which was done by Imaginary Friends Studios, which i gonna show later. Btw, not very sure of the car model. Can anyone able to point out for me?

Haha, with sure a beauty, i really couldn't resist the opportunity to take a picture of myself posing with the car( feels like beauty and the beast). Proof that i wuz there. LOL.
The best digital arts that participated in this event were showed here from all over Asia. This year's theme was War & Peace. Wow, seeing these artworks really shows how good that some people can be. Gonna raise my own bar higher.

This was one of the education center's booth, 3Dsense Media School, showcasing their own students' works. Reminded me of my own college's many exibitions.
Some of the gadgets being demo'ed there. Here this lady demonstrated how this motion-capture suit work, controlling a 3d character movements in real time on the monitor screen behind her. Really cute :P
And here, a guy is sitting while the cameras around him capturing his face's shape so that to convert it into a 3d model along with his facial expression. Cool stuffs. But then again these gadgets can be very unaffordable by a small studio.
Aww~ The crew from Square Enix was a no show that day. They only be here on the 2oth and 21st which means i need to get back tommorrow. Oh well.
Here was the Recruitmet Overdrive section, in which i gonna try my luck on getting job in one of the companies here. Hopefully it will bear fruit soon.
The high and mighty Lucasfilm Animation Singapore was also on recruiting drive and my, it really showed a presence here. Some recruitment booths cant just be compared. Too bad, i dun have confident on getting a job with them.. the requirement was quite high.

Here showcasing the year event's best animation short films. I wanna capture it with movie clip function of the camera but the end quality is just too bad. Can make out the shape but not the detail. LOL. Cant find any of the movie clips online, yet.
This was the booth i hanged around the most. The studio was the main designer of this year event and their works here show you the reason why. The studio only deal with 2D digital art but then they may be the best in the region. Here's their website.
The bespectacled guy wearing the cap in the middle is Stanley Lau, the co-founder/creative directer of the company. Obviously some of the best artworks are his. He was even kind enough to have a face to face talk and give me some few pointers . Cool.

Too bad i dun have any of these gadgets to change skin on. It will be great otherwise.
In case if you are hungry, there are this in house eatery which are truly international in a sense. A wide range of food like japanese, indian, korean, western and local food.

DAY 2
Back for the second day, and the 1st thing to see was the Square Enix booth. I see some deco set up. Great. Gonna see the crew soon enough.
At the recruitment center, Lucasfilm totally unleash the its force starting with this guy.
Then came the Force himself- Lord Vader, along with his bodyguard stormtroopers. By now, there was a surge of people gather around taking pictures.
And of course, to have their pictures taken with them. How rare is that?!
Me obviously doing what most people will do. Hehe, btw just so you know, some online friends know me by the name Anakin. LOL.
They even bring out their bazooka unit (sorry, i no starwar geek). In mist of all these, the booth also showed us a video of the new 3D animation series Star War: The Clone War which are produced locally. Here's the same trailer i manage to find on the net.
The SE guys finally showed up. They are Takeshi Nozue, co-director of FF7:AC and Sinji Hashimoto (right), the producer.
The guy with the cap is Toyokata Kuroda, supervisor technical director of SE. He responsible for the body setup and clothes simulation of the movie. Sorry for this back shot :P A better pic is coming up below.

Most of the time that day i spent listening to career and recruitment talks in this room. Wondered why it called software clinic. Maybe it was also used to present software demo too.
Those who gave the talk were included Stanley from Imaginary Friends Studio...
Yoichi Ataka (left) and Shuzo John Shiota (the president), both of Polygon Pictures Inc, one of the biggest 3DCG production studios in Japan. I also attended recruitment talk by representatives from Lucasfilm Singapore. Too bad theirs was marred by some technical malfunction LOL.There even a booth for those who wanna find info about the event online. But surfing capability was somehow limited.

DAY 3
I'm back for the 3rd time, primarily to attend a career talk by a goverment agency, Contact Singapore on finding an animation job in the country later on 4pm.
To my pleasant suprise, i met a familiar face while i was walking around the place. This is Ka Cheong (is the name rite?) my college senior whom i never meet for 2 years. He and a few others were sponsored by the college (lucky guys) to attend the conference.
Well, since today was their last day in the event, I quickly jumped at the chance to take a picture with them. Cool~ standing rite next to a legend LOL Actually they quite down to earth.
The crew was packing their stuffs for the day. I heard they gonna fly back to Japan later in the evening.
Before they do, the big shots left their signatures on every posters on the booth so they'll be give away to the lucky ones on the final day tomorrow. Too bad i dun plan to be back for the forth time.
Suddenly, there was a mad rush for photos and signatures by the fans. Still, the crew was good enough to spare some time for the fans. I saw tees, packbags and even cigarrete pack were given for siganature LOL
There 's no way i gonna miss a chance like that. Got myself two signed postcards (from the boxset) by the big three.
So in the end, these what i got from the event. Some were brought while others were free :D There were postcards, t-shirt, badges, booklet, stickers, illustration photos and even a wireless optical mouse. And plus a small bottle maple syrup (not pictured). Anyway, i enjoyes the event very much. Hope i can attend again next year :D

Wow, wat a day. Went to the Computer Graphic Overdrive 07 (GCO' 07) in morning and just got back. Have lots of pics to upload and things to say. Still, i need to go there again tomorrow since i have missed something.. hehe. So wait till around tomorrow or so and i'll update you on the event. :)

Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

Just came back from watching this family friendly superhero movie and well, it just entertain enough with some interesting plot and action. So, the first superhero family are back to the big screen and this time they brought along another superhero to share their screen time- the ultra cool Silver Surfer.
The story began in the mist of the wedding of the century- the fantastic couple Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic and Susan Storm aka Invisible Woman. But the family affair is soon interrupted by a cosmic anomaly that soon escalated into something more grim. And in between they have to deal with the bossy government military and their old nemesis, Victor Von Doom aka Dr Doom at the same time. Story wise, it alot lighter than most of recent superhero movie out there (Spider-Man, Batman Returns etc) and about the same level of kid friendly as the other superhero family- The Incredibles. Anyway the plots keeps you interesting enough to ignore the rather predictable storyline. But considering its target audience, it's understandable.
Compare to their first movie, this one seems to offer a lot more. Action, location, characters and visual effects which not a bad thing at all. The action takes you from New York to German and to China. Super powers flying around with lots of explosive destruction for the action fans and some comedy moments to laugh at. Though it's strange that the movie did an anime like fan-service at one scene. Go figure. There's enough eye candies to go by in the movie like postergirl Jessica Alba in tights and the six-pack hunk Silver Surfer who to me like a visualy upgraded metalic T-1000 (Terminator 2 anyone?)
While it pales to the likes of Spider-Man3 and Pirates of Carribean, Fantastic Four 2 do holds its ground as an enjoyable fun family or friends outing. And for those who rather spent money on the other up-coming good vs evil visual effect loaded movie (hint hint), there's always the special edition DVD release.

Pixar's New 2008 Animation Movie

I having a really free morning- woke up very early as alwalys, so surf around the net for anything interesting that i may "waste" time on when i chance upon this.
So Pixar got another movie coming up after the soon-to-be-release Ratatouille (which i dun expect too much) for summer 2008.

This movie will be directed by Andrew Stanton, who directed my all time fav Pixar movie-Finding Nemo, along with the minds who created Toy Story, Bug's Life and Monster Inc. Anyway, the story is about a robot, Wall-E which was created as a rubbish collecting bot, and thus had work as one for 700 years on Earth. Pretty soon Wall-E finds his destiny actually lies above the stars and beyond.

Yeah, the story seems straight forward enough and the robot's design is rather painfully simple. Hopes he gets a make-over during the production. lol Btw love the teaser :)

Looking forward to this movie next year.

A Ragnarok Online Romance: Redux

As you all know, i was a long time player of Ragnarok Online and maybe still is, if i able to afford to pay for it. And since i still not on a payroll, i guess i better stop and start looking forward to the next new thing. And by the time i can afford the p2p fee, RO might be nearing its end. Well, the legendary game is at its twilight age and by now its successor Ragnarok Online 2, is already at its open beta stage.

Like everyone one else (or rather those who are not playing WOW), i'm looking forward to this game. And boy, does this game look good. Cutey anime style in glorious 3D with high character customizing. That what i like most in a game :)

And speaking bout character, i found a video clip that highlights the social aspect of the game, instead the gameplay. With 3D capability, your avatars can express themselves through the faces and body language instend of the usual emotion bubbles floating above one's head. Kissing now even make the players behind their avatars blush for actually doing it *grin* Btw the story is easy enough to understand even with the korean only text. Enjoy.

11 Days Later

I've been on Singapore soil for more than a week now and i've settle down pretty much. And things seem to be getting better :)

I been doing some traveling late due to my job interview tasks that take me around the country. Well, mostly. I've travel to places like Bugis, Tanjung Pagar and Changi. What can i say, public the transport system here is really efficient, well much more that my home country.

I've also check out the vicinity around my current house, and found out some nice place to hang out in. Some shopping mall, cineplexes, food center and even a place i can borrow and buy some manga related stuffs. Too bad i havent spot any cyber cafe around here. Maybe the market for one is not quite good.

Now i really wish to buy a camera, there are places that make a great postcard or at least to post some nice ones here. Well, maybe i will borrow my cousin one :) Feeling like a tourist already :P

Anyway, kinda miss my place in PJ too, my own PC especially. I can do alots of artworks if i have my own PC with me here. Sigh~ wanna do some digital art. Cant really do it here, not really convenient to download every thing i want in my cousin's PC. Hope i got mine soon. But not likely, i think.

Jobwise, i've only been to 2 interviews. Haha, i know. It's kinda little. But then again, most of the job have requirements that i cant meet with. Like Adobe Indesign or 3D Studio Max, i not really familiar with them. I rather find a job i have confident to work with. Hope i'll land on to one ASAP.

Well, i be going back hometown in Johor, one, to renew my staying duration in Singapore and second, to refresh myself at the comfort of my own place. And to pack more clothes too.

The Interview

I went for my 1st job interview yesterday and it seems doesnt went as well as i thought it would be. Kinda nervous during the process and the different approach of the interview took me off guard. Sigh~

For my 1st interview in the Lion City, i have to travel to Tanjung Pagar, an southern part of the island. Good thing about Singapore is its public transport which pretty much covers the whole country and quite hassle free too. I able to arrive at the tanjung pagar station without much trouble.

Anyway the trouble starts here. There i was having much difficulty finding the street where the shop (if hired, i will be working as a graphic artist) situated. I was lost in a seemly vast city and quite overwhelmed by the busy seas of people. Heck, even KL is not as hectic as here. I was standing there figuring where the heck am i while looking at the map book i brought which proved quite useless. I pretty much going around in circles for about half an hour. Guess it better to ask for direction. Ask and be enlighten.

Thanks to an uncle i finally get my bearings right. Seems i overlook a seemly small street just ahead from where i started *sweats*. Lo and behold, Amoy Street. What interesting a bout this street is that there's a really big food center in the middle and by the time i was there, it was lunchtime. Can i say horde of white collar workers. And another thing is, it seems the place is one of the tourist attractions in Singapore. There is an old temple, a hill park and old shophouses with a modern day twist. Hope i will show what it really looks like with some pics soon.

After lunch (still early), i went for my interview. First thing it caught my eyes, is its window displays. The shop is specialize in printing which is mostly name cards. I look at the displayed design and thought there nothing that i cant handle here. Confidence blooming, i walked into the shop. After some time the interviewer showed up and just tossed some forms for me to fill. As i look around, i seems quite "alienated" Just say i'm not comfortable around office full of dolled up women. And it doesnt help the situation when i suddenly have a stomachache. Finished and handed over the form, the lady interviewer ask me to perform a simple test which is redesign a simple namecard from a sample. Okey, looks simple but with my stomachache in full gear i have to ask for a toilet break from the interviewer beside me.

How embarassing, i thought. I looks stupid too. Anyway with a reminded time limit, i trying best redesigning the card without much concept in mind. Duh, it's been some time since i used Illustrator CS, need time to relearn somewhat. The interviewer just took just short look at the monitor and inform me they will call me if i am hired. Guess it's over. I offered my portfolio cd to her to look but she declined.. not very sure why. Anyway i can only pray i'll get the job. I sure i did the test quite well. I think.. Need to remind myself not eat anything spicy again.

It been a few days i've stayed at Singapore.. few days too long. I kinda felt a bit restricted in some sense. No late nights, no friends, no privacy, no place to go to, no money, no job... sigh~ I dun even have enough clothes to wear... cant bring all my clothes in the first place. And so hot in here... i never sweat this often in life, swear.

Not that i feel ungrateful, i do really since i have a roof over my head now. But i dun think i can follow their house rule for long... i cant function like this. No.. i not pampered, just frustated i can't live my way that i used to, alone (by choice) and free. I can live in hardship, hey.. i've been living quite independently outside for almost 7 years without any trouble (non money wise).

Another thing is i hate to be treated like a know-nothing kid, always being told what to do over and over again. I know, the elders always like to nag cos' they care. That why i kept quiet and just nod. But for crying out loud, i gonna turn 26 this year and have 25 years worth of common sense plus the exprience of living independantly of 7 years. I can fricking take care of myself without anyone nagging to me about that...

Well, guess i have no choice but to be patience till at least i have a stable job. Then i gonna get out of here. Hope they understand. I value my privacy and freedom more. *grin* Until that day, i need to research more on what to take to live here (how much price needed).

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
So another trilogy ended this summer... and what an ending. Depending on people, it can be a good one or a bad one but most likely it will be bitter sweet.

The movie begin straight after the cliffhanger ending of The Dead Man's Chest, where Will Turner, Elizabeth and Captain Barbossa and crew in Singapore to get a puzzle map from the Chinese pirate lord, Captain Sao Feng. In doing so, they will able to find and resurrect/rescue Captain Jack Sparrow who end up trapped in Davy Jones's Locker. At at the meantime, time is running up for the pirates all over the world as The Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones, under the control of the East India Trading Company, eradicating pirates or anyone who related here and there.

The movie upped the ante in the visual department this time with lavish sets, mind boggling special effect and great camera shots with action aplenty. No movie yet can compare the great variety of sword fight scenes, auto fast cannon naval battle, shrapels and bullets flying around and a swarming of stone crabs (huh?). An throw in a whirlpool in the middle. Get the idea?

Story wise, it seems a little pale in comparison to its previous movie. Sure, there's a lot of twist and turn and twist again but at times the plot is a little too complicated for the viewer to catch and enjoy. Anyway, it fun to see everybody stab each other's back at every turn while maintaining their side to each other.. We get to see some love triangle of sorts between Jack, Turner and Elizabeth while fighting the EITC cronies.

Still, some action sequences are a bit too ridiculous at the end (monkey fired with a cannonball, anyone?) And the other pirate lords' armada is just for show and helpless in the climax. Weaklings...

Anyway, the movie is worth every cent of the admission price where ever you watch it (I watch it in Singapore ) Hey, it one of the great summer blockbuster after all. And watching Jack interacting with his multi-personality self even worth a second watch :)

Welcome to Singapore, as quoted by Chow Yuen Fatt's character in the newest Pirates of The Caribbean movie (not that i watch it anyway), when i walked past the custom checkpoint in Woodlands before boarding the bus to the Kranji MRT station.

I was following my aunt from her home in JB and will be staying with my relative's at the much heard Ang Mo Kio in the heart of the city state. First thing that came to mind when lugged my luggage up the crossover was the street was not as clean as i thought. Well, from where i stand then i saw cigarette butts and a bit of plastic everywhere.... far from the notorious cleanliness image that the country trying to project.

As the my handphone's DiGi roaming service kicked in moments ago, i phoned home telling my mum that i safely arrived at my relative's home. So i will be staying the 1 of the flats quite indefinitely from now.

Lunchtime and my relatives show me around the community. There are park and a lots of greenery around the flats and commercial area nearby (food center and rows of shoplots). Much to my hidden delight, i noticed McDonald’s just at a end of one corner *sniggers*

Best of all, i have free access to my cousin's pc and the fast internet service, yeah. Well, i haven't forget my priority of finding a job here and the net made my job easier. But then, my uncle in law told me to settle down first before doing anything else (much of my 1 hour+ conversation with him revolving how good singapore is, lol). Well, i think i've slow down too much....

Anyway, there a lot of things i still ignorant about Singapore policy and stuffs and i have to settle down fast. Wish me luck and good bye Malaysia.

It's been a week staying and resting in hometown, almost doing nothing productive.. sigh~
Yeah, my passport has done a few days ago. Still, there a lot of things i in the dark about. Not very sure what job will my mum's friend's son recommend about. All i know is that it is animation related job.

Anyway, there's nothing for me to do in the house except to just wait. Really wish i can bring my pc with me. At least i can add something more in my current portfolio. It was so bored doing nothing at home for the past week. *groan*

I wonder if i'm good enough for Singapore's standard. Not very confident about the whole thing. It's a 1st world country after all. Gonna feel like fish out of water.. lol

After so many attempts getting a job around the Klang Valley, i think is time for me to try my luck somewhere else. I'm think move back to Johor and start to find a job in Singapore.
Haha, you know, my mom been pestering me with the idea on getting Singapore dollars and better chance over there, an idea which i always turned down.

I always make, " If i cant find a job here, what makes i can get one there?" excuses. Guess I got tired. Anyway i still lingering about it, havent decide when i will depart for good.

Spider-Man 3 Review

"How the movie?" I asked my bro?

"Okay, i guess. But, Spider-man 2 was better..."

"Oh?"

"Watching Fantastic Four (the 1st movie) was better too", he said.

I shrugged.
Well, the thing with Spider-man movies are that they ain't like all those super heroes action movies we accustomed to in recent years. Spider-man's stories are not about the superhero fighting evil but the fragile human inside the superhero trying to make sense of things. Thus they are about as drama as they can get. And I know my bro doesnt like to watch "slow-paced boring" drama genre movies without much things get blown up every 5 minutes. Heck.

Anyway, I got a chance to watch Spider-man 3 yesterday.. while i was job hunting in KLCC lol. Yeah, as a fan i shud have watch it a week ago while it was just opened. And i bet there are thousands of reviews out there by now. Better late than never.

And in this 3rd installment, we see goody-o-nerd Peter Parker embracing the dark side and hell, it good to be bad. Also, the new Green Goblin took to the sky along with the introduction of the Sandman. And after much speculation on the web about spidey new black suit and its related villain, while the most recent trailer confirmed it, we finally have Venom (imo one of the coolest Marvel characters) in the flesh. Boy, do the trio really wreak Spidey's life.

Okay, now the review.
*Spoilers Alert*
The movie opens with a brilliant summary or snapshots of the last two movies and Peter is at the top of his life. Spidey is loved by New Yorkers, Mary Jane now is his girlfriend and he's a top student at Dr Conners' class. And for a moment, life is good. But all good things will come to an end.

As the fame and power goes into Parker's head, he began to lose sight of what really matters. What worst, an alien stuff (slime?), which suddenly dropped into earth as a meteorite, hitched into Parker and altered his personality. Btw, it really funny to see, being shamelessly bad actually attracted women's attention. Check out Parker bad-ass dance moves in a Jazz club. lol.

The movie revolves around a lots of themes but one truly stand out is forgiveness. Parker's hell bent on Uncle Ben's revenge as in Harry and his father's, only to be forgiven in the end. At times, I find things resolved too quickly, especially Sandman's about-turn after wreaking havoc and trying to hurt or kill MJ. And using his sick daugther as an excuse for pillaging the city. Anyway, it does fits in the movie that shows there's good side in a bad guy and vice versa. So is Venom, comic version that is.

Speaking of Venom, the movie version is one vile monster, more like Carnage imo. Btw, i thought Venom should be a lot bulkier and more teeth. And they ought to find a better voice over for Venom. Then again, a great effort bringing Venom to life, so is the Sandman who have more screen time (aih..).

Action-wise, they managed to cram an awful lot of action scenes in the rather lenghty movie. From Spidey and Goblin dogfight to the climatic tagteam battle between Venom/Sandman and Spider/Harry. Cool action sequences i tell ya'. Check out the towering Sandman (reminds me of the Mummy) and falling car sequence (Jurassic Park, anyone?).

So, was it worth the money? Every hard-earned cents. It's one of the movies only worth watching in a full glory of cinematic greatness. With all the drama and the action in one movie, it obviously better than the last Spider-man movie. And Jonah J. Jamesons' scenes is always a delight to watch. 'Nuff said.

Naruto Movie 3 Review

The Animal Riot of Crescent Moon Island!(Dai Koufun! Mikazuki Jima no Animal Panic Dattebayo!)
It's finally here. My bro managed to get a copy from his streamyx-owning friend the other day and so i able to watch it recently.

This synopsis goes like this:
Uzumaki Naruto, Hatake Kakashi, Haruno Sakura, and Rock Lee are sent to protect a prince during his trip around the world and see that he returns safely to his home in the Moon Country. The Moon Country happens to be really rich and as such the Prince tends to buy anything his heart desires. During his travels the Prince comes across a circus group that features a rare Sabre-toothed tiger that he just has to have, so he purchases the entire group. Suddenly a mission to protect the prince that hardly listens to anything said, turns into a mission to look after animals and a prince that doesn't listen to what they say, and in the end somehow get them all back safely to their home country. All the while there are three mysterious Ninja wielding some frightening jutsu waiting for them.

Two words to describe this- DAMN DISAPPOINTING !!

*Spoilers Alert*
Okay, while the animation and the graphics are top notch, the same cant be said to the storyline and the action scene. In fact it's almost a kiddy fare.

The story starts slowly, only picking up pace halfway into the story. And the real action begins here when the three ninjas show up, hired by the evil minister who wishes to overthrow the kingdom. Well, some action.

Compare to the amazing opening scene of the previous movie (Naruto the Movie 2: The Illusionary Ruins at the Depths of the Earth) this one totally lack the impact and the exotic moves, that totally went as expected ( Naruto went nine-tail berserk and saves everyone). Even the climax sucks (Full powered Kage-Bunshin just to act as a cushion to a falling over-weight prince , a brat and a tiger) and a lame excuse and totally uncool way to use the rasengan as a finisher.

Also it's sad to see Rock Lee so underused here that his presence is almost neglectable. Even his fighting scene (which the best of all in this movie) was rather simple and brief. I really wish he could use Gai-sensei's ultimate move- Morning Peacock, instead a pair of nuchuck.

And what with the wigs the three evil ninjas are wearing. Make them looks like some members of Jiraiya- sama fan club. *sweats* And you really wishes their jutsu is more that. All too familiar. And the leader is such a weaking.

As for the plot, it lacks the depth of the previous movie.. far too simplistic and dull for todays "shonen" to watch. Even kiddy fare like the latest pokemon movie (Lucario and The Legend of Mew) has better plot than this. What a waste.

So basically this movie only for rabid naruto fans only. Watch at your own risk. For other, better stick to the weekly manga.

So the magazine doesnt publish the result.
What i talking about? Well, it's bout the Spiderman character design competition. Seems like the 1st May edition of Gempak doesnt publish any result at all.. sigh~ Maybe i really must wait till 1st of May. I must have misread it last time*sweats* Oh, the edition released earlier than i thought. Got it at a nearby mag stand this morning.

About the other coming competition, i changed my mind and aims to enter the illustration category instead the comic one. I've better chances in that *grin* Still, i've a hard time drawing too. Not sure what to draw. The illustration must have a concept from any Gempak character in it. And thats a lot to choose from.... Anyway i still have 1 month more to go. Gambate ne~

Not in the best of mood today, getting the blues from cooping in the house all day and staring blanking on a piece of paper. So, here i am :P

Sigh~ 2 weeks more and thats the end of April. Given my current situation, i not sure i can survive another month without a job.

Anyway, i still lookin forward to May cos the result of my Spiderman character design will be publish in Gempak 1st of May edition. By the way here's my design.

I called him- Spiderman Ghost. The custom he's wearing is a bio armour capable of camouflage and producing bio-electric webbing (rather familiar with some other char :P).

Too bad i didnt colour it but i afraid i might ruin it. Hope for the best :)

Fooling Around April

On contrary to the title above, i not fooling around. Instead it's God who play a monkey out of me. 4th month aready and i still unemployed. Really not sure wat went wrong.

For past weeks, i been attending a few job interviews, all seems promosing. Alas, till now i havent get any answer from any of them. Damn disappointing >_<

As for my comic competition, not much in progress. I find it hard to draw anything right now. Hopefully i able to make in on 30th June deadline. Sigh~

Guess i better pen off now. Not sure wat to write anymore. The pc i'm using now was choke full of viruses. Better log off lest it even infect my pendrive >.<

It's been a while. I've been meaning to update a post during the past days when i get online but at the same time i dont feel like posting anything. Well, stupid excuses aside, there also a bit a of a problem accesing my account in the cyber cafe i usually go to. Sigh~

So what to update.. since i've been MIA for weeks :P
For starter, i still unemployed. Dunno why i still picky with the jobs these days. Maybe a part of me hate those graphic designer kinda jobs. Mostly long working hours with little pay. Still, i not sure what else i can do for a living. Sigh~

I recently sent an artwork for a local comic magazine, Gempak. It was actually a character design competition in conjunction of the Spiderman 3 movie. So obviously i have to create my own version of Spiderman. The grand prize is Sony Erricson handphone (forgot the model type) while the 2nd place's prize a PSP. Not too keen 'bout the third though- a 3 months free gym workout *sweats*
I dun have the drawing with me now but i'll be sure to load it up here soon. Wish me luck :D

On another related topic , I plan to join a major comic drawing contest (also by Gempak) in the coming months. Still, i have trouble drawing anything... Always end up erasing watever on the paper. Guess i loosing my touch here *cries*

Marching Into 300

So it almost half way into March already.. and i'm still unemployed. I really not sure what job i need to seek actually, kinda picky like one of my friend said earlier. Well, just say the market didnt offer anything i'm interested nowadays. And i not sure wat i can really do in the meantime. Sucks to be clueless and pennyless at the same time *sob*

Anyway it didnt stop me from watching 300 at the cinema yesterday evening. Me and my two brothers went to Midvalley Megamall to catch the newly opened movie. And god, it was so worth the RM11 ticket we spent each.

The movie is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller whose his other work- Sin City, also made into a live action movie of a same name a couple years back. It tells how King Leonidas, king of the infamous Spartan lead 300 Spartan soldiers to held off an invasion of Greece by the Persian army of incalculable size. While the story itself was rather straight forward, the execution of the story was a nothing short of amazing. The action scenes, the highlight of this movie was totally breath-talking. Even though it's gory but at the same time rather poetic- almost like a graceful dance lol. U gotta see this movie to believe me. As for the girls, 300 perfectly sculpted half naked hunks is enough reason to watch this movie too *winks* What's amazing too was how the local censor treated this movie. Glad they not over-zealous, cutting-happy nowadays though i cant help to be cynical lol. If i'm not short of cash, i go for a second helping. Sigh~

A Week Later..

Sigh~ what a celebration... kinda unmemorable.
This year, without grandpa who was the center of very gathering, was not very lively. Heck, i didnt even see some relatives who were always show up every CNY. Kinda dismay, really.
No ang pow this year too b'cos it was a taboo since we still in mourning period (i only know of this a couple of days b4 CNY)

Anyway, the only good thing this year so far is that we finally got ourself a PS2. Yeah, the console is dated since PS3 came out recently. Heck, who wanna fork out thousand + for console with limited games. Besides, PS2 still shines among the gaming world with hundred of games to choose from. A bargain too with just RM 500 ++. Well, actually my bro the one who brought it. Now he can play every Final Fantasy (his fav game) that came out on PS2, 'cept of course the online one- FF XI. Anyway, at least i got my share of playing too "snigger"

Um, as for me, i still jobless as usual. Actually i kinda lost at what i should do now. Sigh~

Post Valentine Post

Hey there. Sorry for being MIA for more than a week now, here is not really convenient to go out to a cyber cafe. Anyway yesterday was Valentine. And i was terribly bored, just like the days before in the past week. Lonely and bored. What a way to celebrate Valentine. Well, just like recent years.

Well, thanks god i have the the good old tv to keep me company. With added channels from Singapore and if the day's good i'll get 2 more from Indonesia- not that i'll watch anyway. My schedule went like this almost very day- Wake up at 2 pm, have lunch my mum made/tabou'ed before she goes to work. Read newspaper and watch tv till dinner. Then watch tv again, have bath and continue watching tv till 3-4 am before bed. And if the night still early, read something from my library of comics before i finally go meet Morpheus (aka God of Dream)
Haha, i know. Live like a pig. I even gained weight i'm sure.

Speaking of pig, CNY is just a few days away and my two bros will be back tomorrow for the holidays. Good for them anyway since they dun have to help out spring cleaning this year which i did the whole last weekend. Anyway things will be much merrier later then. Looking forward to it :)

Happy Chinese New Year 2007

So here is the time again. Time sure run fast considered i still remember clearly the same time last year. Yeap, another reason to spent money after Christmas after a couple of months of saving and celebrate (not that i have any *sob*) So, in less than 2 weeks from now, we will celebrate Chinese New Year, again. But still i may have to go back hometown 2morrow hence this early post.

Forgive me for not in a joyful mood. For me, Chinese New Year had lost its appeal as i grow older and when things changed. Plus i dun fancy people parade in from of me in their new clothes when i still wearing the same t shirt/jeans for years. Hey, dun get me wrong, i like to wear unfashionable old clothes and i rather spent the money on something else (like a new motherboard or camera). Unless i have a family of my own, CNY will be just the same like any other holiday as well. And yeah, dun even get me started on all those CNY songs blaring from everywhere. They even more annoying than listening My Heart Will Go On a thousand times straight...

But then again, it a special occasion nonetheless, and i made a resolution to do an artwork for every big celebration especially CNY. Hey, there's something to look to after all.

Gempak Manga Review

Yeah~ some books reviews. It's been a long time since. Well, obviously whatever i review are usually either graphic novels, manga, anime or movie.. lol. Okay, here I got 2 new lovely graphic novels done by 2 local-grown talents respectively.

The 1st one up is "The Plague" by Puppeteer. This is his third graphic novel after "Evolusi Identiti" (2003) and "Velositi" (2005). The story sets in a post-aplocalypse city (like most his previous works) which seem to be ruled by military power. A young mechanic, Troy was worried for his girlfriend who works in a air naval base nearby when a plague (hence the title) of winged half-human creatures suddenly appeared and killing cityfolks. As the young man investigate deeper, Troy found out that there's a connection between the creatures and the air naval base where his lover works at.

I can say Puppeteer's artwork has improved greatly especially his coloring skill (used a lot of earth tone) and his mechanical design (though the some aircraft designs looks like ones from Last Exile anime). Storywise, it have lots of action and some gore with a decent plot. Too bad bout its main villian who looks promising at the start. He can be given more depth. Anyway, his great artwork alone is enough reason for you to get The Plague.

To those who are saturated with all the action and gore and in need for something sweet and funny, look no further than "Kaoru's Cake House". With a number of graphic novels under her belt, this Kedah lass is the local Princess of Manga. Like her previous works, her stroke and style is very much like her far-eastern counterpart (even the sound effect is in japanese O.o) but with her very own flavour. Clean, simple and sweet :)

"Kaoru's Cake House" is divided into 2 main parts. One is the story of the title's cake house run by 3 guys and the owner (all are pretty boys) and their funny ways of handling and helping their respective customers' problem with love and hope. And another part is the collection of Kaoru's recent love stories from Gempak comic magazine. All sweet and funny, lol. What's great here is her comic timing and the variety of her love story and the characters within. Nice. I have a good time reading. Too bad in my copy some of the pages are damaged (i think from the printing process) when i brought it a few days ago *cries*

So for those who love comic and manga, i really suggest you buy these two books even though the books only come in Malay language. Nice artwork and good story. What's more reason to support the local comic industry.

New Household Additions

Woot! Third bro Ah J. had brought himself a Pc recently using his study loan. Reason: he need a pc to do his university homework. Well, that not reason enough to buy a powerhouse. Why I say powerhouse? That's b'cos his pc is way better than mine currently even comes with a LCD monitor, dual core processor and a DVD burner. Why one who dun really play pc games and only use microsoft office for homework need a pc this high end. Hell, i kinda envious since i really need to upgrade my old "sayang" to todays pc standard. Being jobless doesnt help *sob*

Anyway, he not the only only one on a spending spree. Second bro Mark brought himself a nice cheap 21" TV and an entertainment rack plus an indoor anteanna yesterday night. We went to Subang Carrefour (look around) then to Courts Mammoth (cheap TV), near PJ State and back to Subang (rack and anteanna) again. Phew~Sigh~ so envious of people that have money to spent. At least i have free TV to watch *grin*

Since i'm the only one free this afternoon, i clean the living room up, making way for the new Tv. Too bad the reception here is quite bad, i can only have a decent (below average =.=") viewing of 3 channels out of 6 (useless anteanna). Maybe later we should move the Tv to a new corner. Now if only we have a PS2....

Into Damansara Perdana and Back

I went for a job interview at Damansara Perdana yesterday. Ya, again at that place. Still remember I went there for the 1st time last year..... also on a job interview.

So I went there again. And got ripped off by a taxi. This guy demanded extra RM3 on top the price showed on the meter (suspected also been tampered with) . Sigh~ no choice then. I run out of time.Well, the place now is more livelier than last time since most of the shops are up and running.

So I sent straight for the interview. After some time searching for the shoplot (stupid developers cant even place the road's name right) I finally found the company *sweats* OK, it another advertising company specialize in doing television commercials and other related stuffs. Small company big clients like TV3, NTV7 and even BMG (if i not mistaken, lol) Anyway, i been interviewed by a lady producer who have no qualms smoking in front of me.... Err, i was like do you mind but i rather keep my mouth shut. lol

Well, after the interview, i felt i was not really keen about the job since it require for me to work long hours for almost every day (that included weekends) and rather inconvenient public transportation to the place. Sigh~ guess no work this month.

Since it have no public bus going into this place (hell, no taxi ever again) i had to hike a good 10 minutes or so to Ikano. Wow, that place is decorated to the brim with CNY stuff especially in The Curve... All pink and full of plum blossom trees along the walking path ( so like sakura trees). Best to took some nice pics with.. ( too bad i have no camera *sob*) Brought some books and had lunch there (A&W, Ikano LG floor, yum~)

Got back home later in the evening... tired but gain some insight of things *grin*

Another Mundane Week

I just had dinner with my brothers at Asia Cafe, Subang Jaya. A rather nice place.. much more lively than SS2 i think. Why not. The place is surrounded by Taylor Uni Collage, Metropolitian College and Damansara College (i think) You can say it the place full of young adults (like us) hanging out.. lol. Pity i dun have any pics to show :P

Well, another week passed by without anything worthwhile happening. Hm, my life is getting cheap. Other than playing guild war on Ragnarok Online twice aweek, there's nothing to look forward to. Sigh~

Mundane Week of January

Spent most of my time playing pc games and doing some artwork... Begining to think whether it will be the same cycle next week.. hope not.

By now i shud got my result from an interview last monday... They say they will answer by yesterday. Coincidently yesterday was a public holiday lol. Maybe i shud wait till tomorrow. Just be hopeful and optimis as always.

Konohaians Mini Gathering 2007

Haha, I shud post this yesterday with some pics. Too bad my friends havent send me those nice pics yet. Shud take some time though.. wish i have a digital cam. Then it will be convenient to post some pics sooner too.

Back to the event, the Konohains (RO players who was a member of the guild Konoha b4 it disbanded 2 years ago) have a mini gathering at Midvalley Mall on 13th Jan, Saturday. Well, it was actually super mini gathering since only 8 of us managed to show up thou we expected 2 more (konoha big shots, Tipah and Mahata). Those who present were Sakura (organiser), Anakin (myself), Eishi (happens to be in KL that day, from Sabah), Nik and his friends, Dannz and Bizkin. Anyway, we went on with our plan of watching a movie marathon (2 movies back to back).

First movie was Sinking of Japan, a japanese sci-fi blockbuster which by now the biggest opening of foreign movie in Malaysia to date. It tells of the destruction of Japan due some mega fault on the Earth's tetonic plate the nation sitting on. Full of rather dramatic shots of special effect with earthquake, volcano eruption and tsunami bring destruction on many of the Japan places of interest (destruction on otaku's haven T.T). While the story was a little like a what-ifs docu-drama (plenty of geografical jargons) with rather predicable plot, it still interesting to watch.

But same cant be said to the next movie in line- Pathfinder. The movie got, perhaps the coolest movie promotional poster ever to fest my eye on which the reason why the movie might looks interesting. The movie got a world premier opening in Malaysia (April 2007 on the rest of the world). It tells of an abandoned Viking child on a north America coast 400 years before Christ Columbus even set foot on it. The child taken in and grew up by a local indian tribe which at that time lives in fear of Viking raids. Even watching the trailer you know what the story about.... Though it boosts some rather notable gory action scenes but the story's pace was rather dull and predictable. You even questions how a lone youngster who practice swordfight by himself on a peaceful village manage to fight and kills hordes of battle-harden Viking warriors... Even Conan have a gladiator slave background to fall back on... Better wait for 300.

Soon after the movie, we head to Wangsa Maju to play RO (guild war) in Tbun. Even our guild have a good member attendance that evening, we fails to get a castle. lol. So after the war, we had dinner at the nearby mamak. We even manage to ask Yanyan , a fellow Konohain who lives nearby to join us. Time running out for public transport, we called it a day.

Next day, some of us meet up for lunch at KL Central. Bizkin even brought a chocolate cake (planned to be brought the day b4) with Konoha Gathering 2007 written on it.. How nice. We chatted for a few hours before we warpped up the gathering.

Hope there will be a bigger and better gathering later this year.

Fun Activities to Start the Year

Yo, it been days since i last update the blog. Kinda inconvenient to blog these days. Spent most of the time doing some thing else. As you can see, i have customized the whole layout design of my blog.. more like put on a new skin.. lol. Anyway, rather satisfied with the outcome :)

Okay, some recap of what i been doing the past days:
As you all know, i went back to hometown for a quick refresh of the year. I came back to PJ a few days later, bringing my youngest brother, Chee Keit for his first visit to Klang Valley in many years. So, basically we have a siblings bonding of sorts, lol.

Last Saturday, we (except my 2nd bro, he's working) went 1 Utama to catch a movie, Erogorn. It was an okay movie story-wise but the special effect alone worth the ticket price. Before that, we went for a little sight seeing around the shopping center. Well, sight seeing has an alternate meaning for my late teen little bro... lol. Almost missed the movie btw...

The following day, the four of us went Sungai Wang Plaza, KL for some shopping. Actually, my little bro was the one who have a shopping spree that day. Manage the spent almost RM 300 worth of clothing on that day alone *sweats* Well, he the vainest of the family, by the looks of his appearance. As for me, an otaku, i only spent RM 30 on a couple of collectible anime figurines (i'll will post some pics later) We cut short of our plan to walk around Times Square since my bro spent too much time shopping.

On Monday evening, we went to a weekly night market at SS2 nearby. Well, it been ages since i last walk through a nite market. Lots of people especially young adults like us, since there are a few colleges and university around. Had our dinner there too.

Alas, Chee Keit had to get back to Pontian on Tuesday morning especially he skipped school for the past few days (new school term started on the 3rd Jan.) lol.

So there. And not to mention i played Ragnarok Online during the guild war yesterday. Heh. Oh ya, looking forward this Saturday for a gathering of my online friends. Plans to watch a movie together. I'll will update on that then.

Back for The New Year 2007

Yowza~!!
First post of the year, lol.
Meant to post some (lots, more likely) earlier but due to some unforseen circumstances- taiwan earthquake, going back hometown etc etc, i unable to do so.

Anyway, a quick update.

New House- we pretty much settled in. Up till now, everything seems ok. There some stuffs that still in the boxes... not sure where to unpack to. And we still not familiar with its exact address. Need to memorize it soon.

Work- I've been laid off last month. So i back to being unemployed status lol. Actually i have expected it since i literaly gave up on the job on the 3rd month... only to held on it longer due to the the money :P Anyway, hope i will have a better job sooner or i will repeat last year's problem again T.T

Friends- Nothing much to write about. Only hope to arrange a supper with those who live at where i lived previously soon. And to make up with a misunderstood friend i mention last time.. :)

Family- I went back hometown for a few days. Still not much to talk with my mum openly though. As with my siblings, still ok. Well, life goes on since the passing of my grandpa, everything seems going back to normal. And I seems to gotten older looking how my baby cousin grow. Still as kawaii as ever lol.

Others- Life without constant connection to the net was hard this past few days. So i make myself busy playing pc games and watching anime :P Aih, gotto look for work too. Really getting bored.

I think thats about it, i think :P Hard to think what to write about with all the noise around me (in a cybercafe now). Still, i try to update as often as possible this year. Even with all the things happened at the start of the new year, I still believe 2007 will be a far better year. To all, Happy Belated New Year~~!

So it finally christmas already. Looking back, it been 1 tough year.

Anyway, since yesterday.. i been pretty much alone. Everyone else seems to have their own fun things to do.. My bros went to Genting wif his own friends and in hometown respectively. My friends... same thing. I even called one up whos in KL for the holidays.. Cant get thru though... So this year's christmas is the same as last year- playing with myself alone.. lol. Regreting not going back to howntown.. at least i'll be spending the time wif family over there.

Went to KLCC yesterday... tons of people. Buy myself a PC Gamer mag and treat myself a McFillet o Fish extra. Went to section 14 on my way back to buy myself a dvd to watch later. Played Dawn of War before ended the nite. So was Chrismas eve.

And now, back at section 14 again.. for lunch and my internet fix. Later maybe go shopping for tonite's dinner and a few dvds for entertainment of the day. So thats how i plan for the day.

Anyway, to everyone else, have the best fun this holiday. Wish u all a joyous merry christmas.

New Home New Begining

There, we finally moved house.

After spending the whole weekend organizing, packing, throwing, load up the lorry, reloading and unpack we able to finally move out of wanga maju into our new home (kinda old apartment) in sec 17, PJ. As life has it, things dun went as smoothly as planned especially concerning the old landlord (ex now)...

Anyway, yesterday was really busy... working our ass off from morning to evening. Things made worst, when after we finished moving our stuffs and practically moved out, the landlord asked (when phoned) to clear every single items, ours or not, out of his house. Since he got a leverage over us, we have no choice.And he cant even come to give us back our deposits even i informed him before we moved yesterday.. Fuming mad.

Without a choice, we just have to throw everything which we dun need. Mostly leftover books, clothes and stuffs from previous housemates which are still in mint condition. Not to mention a hill of old newspapers and books. And a still functional fridge.

In the end, we manage to get help from a couple of guys who manage a charity recycle event (lucky i noticed it earlier when we moved out) nearby. We cleared the newspapers and sorted out clothes and stuff to give to the charity. There, the house was cleared. Well, apart from the lone fridge in a corner which we have to leave it there.

So, we went back our new home, unpack and organize the place. The 1st thing i set up is my beloved PC.. lol. Till now, there still some boxes waiting to be unpack. And the floor need a good sweep and mop.

Later in the evening, i still have to rush to wangsa maju to meet up with the old landlord.... if he turn up this time. Sigh~

On The Move Out

Just took my dinner at BRJ... gonna miss eating there.

Anyway, now taking a break from packing since morning.... browsing all my comic mags and stuffs.. deciding what to keep and which to feed the garbage. Feeling a little "sayang" at all those "Gempak" and "Star" local mags, PC Games and other misc mags which i keep since 2002.. lol. But then again, even i keep them, they just lying somewhere collecting dust and become bug food. And talk about paper, i have more than 1 year worth of old newspaper to throw later =.="

Yeah, yeah, they worth some money if i sell them to the old newspaper collector but i have to clear things out by tommorow when i move out.... or else the landlord wont be happy bout it.....
Wonder if he mind if i give them to him.......

Well, thats wat i get for always doing things in the last minute *sweats*

So as i said, i'll be moving out tomorrow morning by 10 am... if the lorry i rent makes it on time.

Anyway, i bid good bye for this area which i been living for 6 years, gonna miss this place *sobs* And for those friends who live nearby , thanks a lots for taking care of me all this years, directly or not :) Sorry if i didnt make any kind of farewell party or yumcha even though i wish there's one... Maybe next time :) Miss you all too...

Unfun Busy Holiday

Yeah, a holiday today- birthday of the Selangor Sultan. But then again, spent the whole day paying bills and canceling my telephone and streamyx line. Spent a lot of money too, transportation fees for going to and fro the nearest Telekom center which not very near at all (about RM 5.80 ride by taxi) *sob*

Then again finally I got rid all the fees that been tying me down since. Hopefully with all the fees cleared, the landlord can give our deposits back as promised. And now to focus on the next problem- house moving. The question is how?

As of now, the current house is kinda in the mess right now. Tons to pack and even more to throw. I planned to pack some up today but kinda tired from the ordeal earlier today... Never thought I spent the whole day already =.=" Guess i have to pack a bit when i get home....

Now, i still got 1 bill to pay- the maintainence fee, but have to wait cos the paying station only open on 6pm *sweats*

And tomorrow i have to go back to work. Sigh~

Begining of an End

In about a few weeks from now, we'll bid good bye to 2006. And from this final month onwards there gonna be some changes going on. Some good, some bad but hopefully they are for the best.

So in coming week, if all goes well, i will move from Setapak, KL to Section 17, PJ along with my bros. Well, kinda heavy-hearted to move away from the area where i have been living for about 6 years. Gonna miss some friends there, the cybercafes, the BRJ mamak restaurant, the Hartini malay stall..... well, pretty much everything there.

So i gonna be quite busy this and the coming weeks. Tie up all the loose ends, pack things up, throw things away, clean up the current house etc etc *sweats* As for the apartment which i'll be moving in, well, i will go have a look this Sat. LoL, yeah.. i havent see the house yet but my bro did and he said not bad actually.... Well, at least the rent is the cheapest of all we looked in that area and pretty much near my work place and Utar :)

Work-wise, i now in my 4th month and things pretty much settled in. Though there still some problems but then i dun really bother anymore. As long i do my job and there's cash coming in, i pretty much satisfied.

So the coming 2007, i believe, will gonna be a better year.

Crying (Care)Freeman

I wonder why i wanna blog about this too... but then again this one of the reason why i blog in the 1st place...

Anyway, all the years since i was a young teen, i always maintain an emotionless look... especially when bad things happen around me. Even during my father's death, my grandpa or even my fav grandma where everyone else cried openly... i was always without a single drop of tear. Even i myself tot my heart was harden without the feeling of sadness... or maybe it my care-free attitude. I can feel happy but not sadness. Maybe the happiness might been an act.

Still, a lot time. i really wish to cry out. The passing of my father, my broken relationship wif my ex, and especially during the recent year. Yet i cant. Not a drop. A robot like human.

And yesterday night, i just erupted.

I received my salary of the month and hopes to dine out. Yet i dun felt like eat alone. My bros got their own things to do. A few friendly phone calls, a few sms. No favorable result. Then i decide to eat some leftover bread at home. Alone.

Later all bros came back and we discussed about the house moving problem. It became heated when the third and i argued. Second bro tends to not get involve or things might get worse. Soon the third (currently taking a degree in psychology) said something which felt akin to what Steve Irvin got in his last moment... maybe even worst.

I shouted back in rage and retreated to my room. I was trying to calm down when mum phoned. And when talking to her, i suddenly just exploded in tears. I was cried and sobbed like a 3 year old. It was like all the accumulated pressure, disappointments and grief just burst open. Unable to speak properly, i handed the phone to my 2nd bro who standing there stunned ( he said much later that's the 1st time he saw me cried in his whole life)

Obviously, my mum was dead worried when she suddenly heard me like this.

Soon i was able to calm down and was dumb-founded that i cried just then.... Just so surreal. My bro and mum (second phone call) was relieved. Sorry for making u all so worried ;P
Later i made peace to my third bro. Hey, we brothers after all.....

So i cried. Real man cries, as the saying goes. Hey, I'm a human after all. After this episode, I hope things will get better.

Calm After The Storm

Sigh, have a working day today.. which means i been working 7 days for the week. Yeap, been working for almost 3 months now.

Well, in may last post, i mentioned i would do something drastic. Still, after calming down a bit and taking things into consideration... i decided to tackle things step by step wisely. I know watever i will do this last months will affect the next year. I dun wan the same things to repeat again.

Anyway, as for my work now.. well i having a difficulty with one of my workmates. Things start out great with us but we kinda have different options the seems to clash. And couples of misunderstanding.... well thats one of the reasons i been down those past few days. And there some rumours going around about me... what ever that is, i really dun give damn. I do wat I initially suppose to do and thats it.

On a lighter note, I wish to celebrate a friend's coming birthday.. still not sure if i able to since the friend might be away from town.. i see how things go 1st.

Drastic Times In Need of Drastic Action

This year's been, well, a nightmare in need of waking up from... everything went wrong where ever i been into. My job, finance state and even my relationship with my family is kinda rocky.

Everything that have been lead into this was due to a series of unwise decisions of mine and situations that went against me. A heavy burden taking toll on a simple minded guy like me.

Well, in a next few days I'll will be taking some drastic action and hope these ease some burden of mine and in ways, help those who were affected by those unwise decisions of mine. No, i not thinking of doing something stupid.. lol

Then what i planning to do? Well, u'll find out in the next few days.

Hiccup On The Job

Yoz~ tis morning I missed my stop by 2 stations. Lol, that’s wat u get for getting too comfy in LRT. Anyway, it been a month since I started work here and now wat do I think about it? Well, frankly… not too well. Quite a few of things dun go too well with me here work-wise.

Well, before I start bitching bout it, I do have a few nice thing to say bout tis company of mine. For starters, most (almost all I think) staffs here are overly friendly. They smile, they greet where ever I walked past by, they invite you to sit along at lunch – make me feel like Gordon in HL2, lol. Well I guess it is the culture of tis company. Even my two co-workers in my department is easy to get along wif. A big thanks for looking after this newbie for the past month. Heh. Speaking of culture here, staff are “encouraged” to take part in activities organized by the company. Hell, I done more exercise in the past month than the entire year of 2005… lol. The company do take extra effort in the recreation and activities for the staffs here. Still trying to get used to it. Still, I nvr been in a corporate company before. Just yesterday we celebrated Mooncake festival while breaking fast. I still think I working since I have video shoot the whole event. Hope it was an OT. *grin*

Ok, as for my problem.. well, it been more or less the same since i first work here. Yeap, tool problem and some mismanagement. Not to say my company sucks (well, it’s now a really successful one that is) but things just don’t go well in my department, for me at least. You see, I been given the responsibility to create a corporate video for the company. The thing is my department doesn’t have the machine decent enough to work with. OMG, you must be crazy to expect me to make an animation laden video with an office use laptop. Even Micheal Schumacher can’t win a F1 race if given only a Kancil or at best, a Toyota Celica. *sweats* Ok, 3 weeks ago… with much difficulty on the “budget” we finally brought a decent (hei, wat can u get with RM 1100 nowadays) PC to get started. Problem solved or so I thought.
After some days of animating work, the higher ups decided to use the PC for some confidential paperwork and printing. And since it’s confidential the PC is totally restricted. Now, the thing that is totally unbelievable, I have to use a laptop for the meantime. HELLO~ paperwork with power PC and animated video with office laptop… is there anything right about it? Even the superior from the graphic department who oversees my project shakes his head in disbelieve when he heard tis turn of event. Sigh~
And now I stuck here with nothing much I can do. I even have to content/busy/force myself with meager jobs like arranging table chair for an event or sending letters/invoices/etc to 1 department or another. That even if there anything to do… Well, at least I got to know the people around. Heh.

Another thing is the higher ups like to screw anyone who didn’t get things done, even it’s not entirely their fault. I beginning to feel the pressure since I’m on the corporate video and it been delayed for some time. Anyway, I pitied my immediate superior. He stuck between a rock and a hard place… Well, that’s wat u expect for working under someone else.

Anyway, by next week I’ll get the PC back and hope things dun get interrupted again.. It really taking a toll on my morale. Considered everything, it’s a good place to work in and hope I’ll be more productive. Gambate ne~

I Survived A Week

There, a week have passed and well everything goes like so and so. Enviroment-wise, everything is going quite nicely-getting along well with new workmates and so. Performance-wise, well still getting stall due to lack of management foresight. My supervisor don't seems to understand that without a decent machine, I cant do my stuff he wanted me to do... sigh~ And another thing is the transport, at times it really inconvenient... Hope things get better by next week.

Anyway, I went to see a movie after work- Monster House. It a 3D animation from Dreamworks and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is about a trio of teens tryin to stop a possessed monster of an house from devouring trick-or-treating children during Halloween. It also deals with growing up, friendship, trust, girls and other cliche stuff bout teens. Basically a horror movie for the whole family. I found it rather enjoyable and storywise better than a certain car movie months ago.

Back On Track

Whoah~ I just had dinner after an hour plus journey from my new job in PJ. Some of my newly known acquaintances said my house is a bit far. Well, I did a bit of logical thinking, it better than some people using the same time stuck in traffic during rush hours in cars. Anyway, glad I'm back on track on the career road. Well, even it just a tip with the toe, I never felt better than before -the same giddy joy of doing something worth doing. I hope I'll do.

Well, actually I now a bit worried bout something. Even it just 2 days on the job, i felt i was a bit underuse. I was hired as multimedia designer but I see no workstation being readied for me. Worst I haven't given any offer letter to be signed even it was heard readied days ago . My manager said the one responsible for the letter havent came back to work today.. Sigh~ all this bureaucracy red tape really slowing my pace, not to mention my productivity.

Anyway, I glad i work here. Everyone is friendly especially the department i worked under. Hope all goes well for me then :D

I woke up this morning when my hp rang. Still pretty much asleep, i quickly answered. Oh, it was from a company i interviewed with last week. A second interview, I thought. She said I was supposed to report to work on 28th this week. I was totally awake. WTH, I know nothing about it. It was already 30th. Will I still able to work? I was speechless. Luckily she said there was a miscommunation on the company side and asked to report to work on Monday at 8am. Oh, I was totally relieved to hear that.*sweats* Well, I hope it not another miscommunication..

Anyway, I was really happy and too exited to go back to sleep (it still pretty early, for me that it) On a gloomy note, TMnet "harassed" me again to remind me of the RM350 i yet to pay... Sigh~ This is too much for one morning and it not even noon yet.

Well, i still a bit worried though, nervous i think. LOL Hope all goes well from this moment on. And btw, I canceled my interview for this noon. I dunwan to waste the transport fee. :P

In Dire Need of Work

Sigh~ it been months and still i pretty much jobless. Everything seems to get worse these days. I spent most of my days in front of my PC either playing games or doing some artworks. As for the job searching, still not much i can do. I already send a lot of resumes, folios, been interviewed here and there but still no results. Not very sure what went wrong in the process >.<" Not sure what i can do now.....

Just few days back, i got visited from the former housemate demanding i pay up the deposit since almost years ago. Come on, its not entirely my problem. In my current situation i really cant even part with RM 10 let alone a few hundreds. And usually those who move out should find a new people to replace them. Why I the one who replaced ANOTHER should bear the responsiblity to find other people for them or repay their deposit? It just not fair. Sigh~ blame it to my some unwise decisions and a year back. And worse, they thought I been sleeping like a useless bum the whole time. Fuck. I did my best finding a job and what can I do if I'm not hired.
Anyway, i promised i pay up a hundred first in October. Just pray I got a job then.

Sigh~ at times I wondered where i went wrong. So down these days... So lonely. T.T

Optimistic and Hopeful

Sigh~ just got back from an interview from PJ. And the result? Well, not that good I think. Maybe i was either too honest or lack of confidence bout myself. still it was a rather intimating 2 on 1 interview. Quite different from the same 2 on 1 last Monday. Nonetheless, I pretty confidence on what they'll see in my portfolio cds i gave them. And now hoping for second interview.

Speaking of the last interview on Monday, the atmosphere was more friendly and warm. I was interviewed as a graphic designer and i think made a good impression. Still if i get a job, i have another headache to attend to- the transport or maybe accomodation... Kepong is a way too far from where i live now. Better think of plan in case i got the job *sigh*

Another suprising development on my job searching was on the job which i quited waiting for. Guess what, the boss gave a call another day and asked to email a redesigned namecard of hers to jugde whether i got what it takes. Heck, she should have asked for it a month ago.. *sweats* Anyway, i did what she asked and hope for a good news.

Now, all I have to do is pray and be optimistic. My luck may just change for good.

There.. i just email the last of the few resume for today. Have to spent some time picking the rite job on JobDB *sweats* I still not really confidence bout myself since i been unemployed for sometime.

Anyway, for those who followed my blog (whom i think i can count on 1 hand) was to think i started to work since last week. Well, I have to admit i being naive on thinking that i'be employed by the boss after waiting for over a month or so... >.<"
Hey, the boss did said she will hire me... or so i thought. And today, after last week which she promise to call which she didnt.. i thought wat the heck, i'm tired of waiting for nothing and start to move on to find a new job.

A friend (thanks, u know who u r)of mine said i have two weakness, lack of confidence and like to wait for things to happen which i think is true esspecially the later >.<" Well, i hope this time i'll will make things happen. And make sure by the end of this month i'll get myself a job, once and for all.

Well, I still not working yet. Getting very very worried. Really tired of all this waiting game. Wonder when I will get a decent job here... *sigh*

Anyway, nowdays I spent my time playing Neverwinter Nights, trying to finish the whole game plus the expansions. Enjoy them very much... much better than those online game nowadays. Besides games, I also try to brush up my art skills- digital illustration and character designs, hoping to make my current portfolio more solid *grin* Expect to see them here soon.

And with all the hoo-haa with the recent rob and kill in Setapak, I and the rest of the community can finally rest in peace now that the culprits are caught (well, apparently...)Read it here. Still, I hope the policemen and co will not let up the security around here...

MIA and Back

Wooot...
It been a while since my last post.. Almost a month. I been away in my hometown in Johore. Thats means no net access there too T.T So I been watching singapore channel, reading newspapers and eating almost everyday.. lol. Gain some weight too i think.

Only been back to KL for few days... then go window shopping since then lol. Fed up spending the day coop up in the house.

Owh, by the way, my new job starts next month (if what my interviewer cum boss said is right). Wats my job? Graphic design and sometimes video editing.. Well, i still not sure about the details but i hope it will be ok.

Anyway got to go now.
